Beautifully written fairytale with deep cultural and spiritual connections. This book will live in my library to read again and to share with family and friends.
Red Madder Root is a beautiful read. The themes are relevant to what’s happening in the world today and are applicable to my life, with many beautiful perspectives. The book actually helped me with my parenting of one of my teenagers, which was a bonus or a gift that I didn’t expect.
This is not a book about the New Age, not about witches or WICCA, but a fresh perspective on ancient knowledge through the reweaving of fairytales.
I am very busy with not much time for reading, and prone to information overload, but this book is such a soothing read that I could easily read it, a few pages a day. It is not overwhelming, and does not use too many words, it is fluff-free. Not only did I love the book, I found myself looking forward to my reading time with it. I loved the melodic, musical way it reads.
As someone who has worked in the field of family health and is aware of the limitations and problems with our healthcare system, especially women’s medicine, I appreciate that this author knows the herbs and describes them correctly in the prose and songs.
Having the perspective offered by this book, I felt it gave me some peace for where I am personally and professionally, it brought me back to feeling okay, as if receiving a reset.
It’s a multi-leveled book, my review is not giving it justice. I would just recommend you to read it for yourself, and enjoy the read. I will definitely read it again. It is nourishing, and I have a feeling it is one of those books that each time you read it, you notice something you didn’t notice before.
Note to the author: please put a link to the songs: I want to hear them being sung.
Explores folklore with a new lens that emphasizes women's issues in creative ways. This has a narrative spine that explores new avenues of ancient stories.
