I'm thankful to Alexa Verde for an early copy of this story. It has everything one could ask for in a book: intrigue, romance, action, mystery, family ties, suspense. And how fun it was to revisit the Danger Girls. To tell you the truth, I had forgotten about them. Now I want to go back and re-read their stories.
Many authors put graphic sex scenes in their writing to get the readers aroused. And I'm here to say that it's not necessary. Reading the "clean" love scenes Miss Verde wrote took me back every time to my early romance with my late husband. When Lydia and Aiden experienced their first kiss (in this book), I relived our first kiss. And the emotions that both of them felt!

Wow- there's just something about the way Alexa writes that just grabs me. This story started off with drama as it is discovered that a child has been kidnapped. The child's father was shot by the kidnappers and was in the hospital facing surgery. Secrets of Rios Azules is a series that is filled with drama, suspense and romance. I have read some of the books in the series but think it would be best if they are read in order. The father that was shot in this story actually is from a previous story in this series. I definitely need to go back to read the ones I have missed to really appreciate this story even though I was able to follow the story.
This story has Lydia, who is a school counselor and friends with the mother of the kidnapped child, helping to discover who has kidnapped the boy. Aidan Rowe is good friends with the couple whose child has been kidnapped and he is a local police officer involved with the case. Lydia and Aidan had been a couple years before and she had broken up with him even though she still has feelings for him. There is some secret from her past that she feels would have destroyed his life in law enforcement.
So now Lydia and Aidan have to work together to track down a kidnapper.
There are so many other layers to this story as someone seems to be going after Lydia, breaking into her house and trying to run her off the road. Is the kidnapping connected to the attacks on Lydia? Will Aidan be able to protect her without losing his heart again? Will Lydia finally share with Aidan the real reason she broke off there relationship? Will they get a second chance at love?
The suspense and drama in this story keeps you on edge as you won't want to put the book down.

I just finished Whisper of Danger. Lydia and Aidan have known each other all of their lives. Aidan had proposed after high school, Lydia had accepted, and then she broke their engagement, without telling him why. He's wondered for years, and though he's tried to forget her, he can't. It doesn't help that they share the same town, the same friends, and there's been no closure. Now that a child has been kidnapped, and they find out it's because of Lydia, Aidan will do all he can to protect her. Lydia has kept her secret for years, but now it has to come out. Will her friends and Aidan still stand by her, or will they leave her to face things on her own? Aidan and Lydia both learn some lessons through this difficulty, and come out stronger on the other side.

I loved Lydia and Aidens story. Lydia has gone through so much and suffered greatly but with God’s help and the help of her friends she came out on top. Ever since high school Aiden and Lydia has been in love and would do anything for each other so when Lydia broke up with Aiden it about killed him. There was a secret that she was keeping that will eventually come out and explain everything but will it be too late. I love that Alexa Verde puts love, faith and a touch of danger in her stories it keeps them exciting. This book is absolutely amazing. “I received ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.”

Alexa Verde weaves a powerful story full of hope with relatable characters (Lydia and Aiden), twist and turn plot, danger, a kidnapping and believable resolution. The Danger Girls are unique characters, who all grew up in broken homes without loving parents and grandparents and literally raised each other. The reader is immediately drawn into the story. The brazen, dramatic, bold kidnapping and drugs, addiction, plus the primal survival instinct keeps the readers attention. The epilogue brings closure to the story and series. I was not disappointed. This is Lydia and Aiden story. Suspense , action and more action, mystery, family, romance, and second chances. Lydia and Aiden knew each other in the past, but they parted ways. Lydia is keeping a secret. If her secret gets out ,will it be to late? A very powerful story. Loved it. Danger strikes, and they all jump in to help any way they can. Among those helping is her former fiancé. As they spend time together, she opens up about why she dumped him.
When the danger peaks, he realizes those issues that would have mattered years ago don't matter now. He still loves her.
There was so much action in this story. Just when you think things are settled, some new thing pops up. Strangers turn into allies, and long-time acquaintances prove to be foes.

Alexa Verde continues the suspense, danger and intrigue that began in Rios Azules. With such wonderful characters this story grabs your attention from the first page. Lydia has a secret that she’s never revealed to anyone, not her dearest friends or the love of her life. When her friend Mari’s little boy is kidnapped she’s determined to help locate the child. What will it take for her to accomplish this rescue?

Oh my goodness, this book simply grabs you right from the first sentence and just doesn’t let go. Very well written story with a wonderful cast of characters. I love how the Danger Girls have each other’s back and work together to find the answers needed. Lydia and Aidan are a remarkable couple that have a lot to navigate before the end. Such a great story.

The road to romance is never easy, but with kidnapping, shooting-and that’s only the beginning-this romance has more twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing WHO all, and WHAT all is actually going on! Whisper of Danger is a fabulous finale to the Secrets of Rios Azules series.

I have been waiting sooo long for this book, since, like, possibly the first of this series. lol. And, the wait did not disappoint. This is a great book full of suspense and friends and family. It was a great read. I devoured it.

Right from the first page, Lydia, Aiden and their friends pulled me into their story and held me captive until I read the last word. This book gives the reader not only a sweet, poignant and much deserved second chance at love, it also serves up a healthy dose of intrigue and suspense with a few twists. Aiden and Lydia join forces for the first time in years, in order to try and find the culprits of a child’s kidnapping, a shooting and break-in. Helping their friends is second nature to both of them, but working together is not, at least not since their devastating breakup years ago. In the intervening years, Aiden has become the police officer he dreamed of being and Lydia a school counsellor, but neither has gotten over the other. Aiden still doesn’t know why Lydia returned his ring, but he does know that something changed when she was eighteen, something she keeps hidden and refuses to share. Working together is bittersweet and a bit excruciating for them both, but they will do so for the friends they both love dearly. As the investigation progresses, they learn that everything could be tied to Lydia somehow. She and anyone around her is in danger. Aiden desperately wants to keep her safe, but Lydia is willing to take chances with her life in order to protect those she cares about. Can Aiden keep her safe? Really Great Series
I'm really enjoying this series and getting to know all the characters and the Danger Girls. I loved Lydia and Aiden's story. These two went through a lot of strife to get their HEA. This story is full of strife, intrigue, and suspense as well as romance. A captivating read that I read straight through.

A wonderful story by Alexa Verde featuring Lydia and Aidan in Rios Azules, Texas. This is a clean, sweet romance with elements of faith, and suspense, including a kidnapping. Alexa's writing grabs you on the first page, and with the twists and turns throughout the story, keeps your interest until the final page. A really great read!

I have so enjoyed the Secrets of Rios Azules series. Whisper of Danger is a great addition to it. Lydia and Aiden are wonderful characters that make their story one that's easy for a reader to invest not just their time, but also their emotions in. I have loved reading about the Danger Girls and the family that they made for themselves. The suspense is nail-biting. This plot has enough twists and turns to make you dizzy, so hold on tight for the thrilling ride that Alexa Verde has for you. This is a stand-alone story, but I would encourage you to read the others in the series because they are all fantastic.

I have eagerly awaited the story of Aidan and Lydia since I read the first the Secrets of Rio Azules series and it did not disappoint. It was a great addition to this series and had a couple different mystery threads running throughout the book. I always enjoy reading Alexa Verde, this was another intriguing and gripping book.

Real Issues
Ms Verde deals with the issue of addiction that is real in our world in a manner that is caring while confronting the horrible consequences too. 4.5* I did think the marriages and friendships lacked that same realness; everyone was so sugary sweet.
