I may or may not have lost my virginity to my best friend, and he may or may not have leaked my nudes afterwards. Needless to say, I abandoned ship and avoided him like the plague. Losing someone you've spent years pining over hurts.
The only thing left to do is move on and finish school to become an Architect, right? Take on the world by storm?
Sure, if you can deal with the academic pressure, the risk of sexual assault on campus, and being a young woman in a male-dominated industry.
But I do it. I'm ready to rise in my field and make a name for myself when my brother needs a huge favor. He's in a bind and needs me to come work at his property development company. Only problem?
I'll have to see Prescott again.
Resurrection is a breathtaking adults-only dark romance following Camille Barclay and her worst temptation, Prescott Donahue. She loves him like a drug. Can she rise above or will she fall prey to her own special brand of heroin?
I think there's a good basis for a story here, I think it needed to be fleshed out more and made into a longer book.
There are also a LOT of spelling errors and similar things that seemed to be missed, such as "starts" rather than "stars", "at" rather than "as", entire words missing from phrases, improper tenses in phrases, plot holes or maybe it was plot points being rushed through (kissing "her man" in front of her family, and later being worried about how they're going to react to them together?), and extra words (something along the lines of "tied her right left foot with ___ and her left foot with ___).
I feel all of these issues could've been fixed by having more people read the book before finalizing it.
While I did love the start of it I think it rushed through a lot to fit in as much as possible. (Trigger warning) the initial SA scene in the beginning was a bit much for me but I did enjoy Cami’s triumph over her past. I wish I got more of their love story. I feel like everything was so quickly forgiven instead of dealing with it. (Spoiler warning) the whole Weston murder and Cami just kinda being eh about it really threw me. I feel like it was added for effect but not to really solve anything. Overall I probably wouldn’t read it again.
I'll be honest, I don't believe I was the right audience for this novel because of this I am bumping up my rating as I don't feel it would be fair to give a low rating due to that fact. I know there are so many people who love dark, dark romance that would absolutely love this book! The twists and turns definitely kept me on my toes as I was reading as well. Definitely check the content warnings before reading as there is SA, stalking, and more.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
If you are wanting a quick dark romance read this is it! Prescott and Cami's chemistry is hot! From friends to lovers they find a love that is only satiated by one another. Cami is a STRONG fmc and Prescott is a typical alphahole.
BE SURE to check the Trigger Warnings before starting this book.
I normally stay away from reading dark romance, but I couldn’t put this book down! I hated Weston’s part in this book but loved Preston’s love for her!
This was such a great book and I was hooked, I read it so fast. It's dark and captivating, but I love Cami and her drive. She is a headstrong person and I love that she is determined even through the hard times. And Prescott, oh the man, I absolutely love him. He is so good for Cami and will do anything for her, their story was great. I can't wait to read more from this author.
