with its stories, poetry, and teachings, has guided countless
generations through the glories and travails of life on Earth.
Designed to bring the wisdom of centuries to a wide audience, The
Illustrated Hebrew Bible is a beautiful collection of the most
compelling stories from this ancient text.

This elegant volume includes 40 selections from the Torah and 35
from Prophets and Writings, beginning with Genesis ( the creation of
the world) and continuing through Isreael's history of strife and
celebration, and ending with the return of her people from exile into
the Promised Land. Retold in lyrical, accessible language that
captures the true rhythm and dramatic power of the original Hebrew,
these writings are enhanced by images from illuminated manuscripts,
ancient artifacts, radiant synagogue mosaics, paintings by Renaissance
masters, and others, including William Blake, Marc Chagall, Jack
Levine, and Harry Lieberman.

Fascinating. A great accompaniment to the standard King James Bible and an excellent research tool.

This book is beautifully illustrated which give a deeper meaning to the stories. I find it interesting that each story has Hebrew writing which lends this book to make more meaning for the Jewish people. In the Christian Bible, the books are written in chapters, but it reads as one book. In this Hebrew Bible, they break each section up into its story with its illustration which I feel gives the story far more meaning. As a Christian, I have read many of these stories I just felt reading it in this Bible gave me a new perspective on the story.
