The novels and stories of Elizabeth Taylor (1912-75) have always had an enthusiastic following among the general reading public, and have been greatly admired by fellow-writers. This study aims to introduce her work, to trace some of its recurrent preoccupations - with memory, dispossession and bereavement, and with her generation's experience of wartime as both disruption and opportunity - and to highlight the ruthless wit with which she assaulted all forms of egotism and self-satisfaction.
I purchased this online, assuming it was a biography of Elizabeth Taylor, how wrong I was.
It actually is a psychological analysis of some of Elizabeths books that only an academic could put to paper,it reads like a thesis. Personally I think a lot of times scholars read hidden meanings into every single thing they read, which wasn't the authors intention.
The book is so full of sesquipedalian words (using a word Reeve will appreciate) to make it very boring and incomprehensible in parts. Took me forever to finish 92 pages!
