Take the test! Find out which dialect(s) of New England speech you speak or understand (sorry, no college credit for this). Understand how New Englanders can simultaneously be admired and exasperate. This collection of anecdotes, history, food, weather and customs explains these people, even attempting a definition of the elusive term “Yankee”.
A hilarious must-read for anyone interested in comprehending the people from the northeast.

I love this book - it's old and probably out of print but our library had a copy of it. It's a mostly hilarious, sometimes not, view of life in New England. I'm a trandsplanted New Englander, despite my father being a native so I'm looking at Hale's descriptions from both sides.
