Reveal the incredible inner workings of the human body
In this eye-catching book, readers can explore the hidden inner workings of the human body, look inside different organs and body systems, and learn about how to look after their own physical and mental health at the same time. Readers use the see-through "magic lens" to reveal how our bodies function and the different body parts hard at work inside us. Find out how your senses work with your brain to show us the world around us, how doctors and nurses spot diseases, and how we turn food into energy... and poop.
So pick up the magic lens and take a tour of the marvelous human body!
Using the "magic lens" you can explore the human body! There are sections all about bones, muscles, skin, eyes, and hair. You will learn about the nervous system, the digestive system, and your lungs and brain. Have you ever wondered how your brain interprets sounds through your ears, or how the tongue can taste different foods? Did you know your heart pumps your blood all the way around your body in about 60 seconds?
It's so fun to look around the pages with the magic lens and find all the hidden illustrations. You can see people's bones and muscles inside their bodies, and it's really cool to learn about all the little details of our bodies that we don't normally think about.
Each page is divided into small text boxes with factoids about the body, making this book easy to read. The design is really colorful and interesting! I liked the cartoony art style.
There is also a section about how babies grow from a fertilized egg into an embryo, and then a fetus until the baby is ready to be born. The text simply says "A sperm cell and an egg cell from the parents connect." There is also a section about stem cell research in labs. The text says "Stem cells are the first cells that form to make a baby." I appreciated that the facts are told in an appropriate way for any age group. It's up to the family of each young reader to decide how much the reader is ready to know beyond that, and what moral message they want to teach their child.

Featuring a sturdy magic lens that tucks neatly in a small pouch inside the front cover, this colorful book takes readers on a whirlwind tour of the human body. The lens is intended to be held over the red and blue pictures on various pages, allowing readers to get an inside or up close look at parts of the body that can't be seen with the naked eye. The double-page spreads are busy with colorful boxes filled with information and illustrations, but because they are separated with colors and borders and some space between them, most young readers won't feel overwhelmed by the text or information. Inside the book, they'll learn more about the human brain, the eyes, the ears, the nose and tongue, the teeth, the skin and hair, bones, muscles, the lungs, the heart, and the digestive system. There's even information about how to stay healthy; after all, the body has quite a few elements to manage. Four pages even detail what happens during a visit to the doctor and during surgery as well as how a baby grows and new innovations in medicine. It's hard to finish this title without being impressed with how marvelous our bodies truly are and how so much of what happens inside us is not something we can consciously control. The thick pages and reader-friendly text boxes as well as the clear explanations for how all of this works make this a winner for most science or health classrooms and lesson units.
