The vengeance Reign seeks for the slaughter of an innocent friend has led her through hell and back. A rash decision to help two guardians brings he face to face with the Guardian King. Will her temporary lapse in judgment be something she will come to regret? As King of the guardians Knox never wanted-nor had time for-love,until a female warrior stands to defend him What he sees in her, he sees in himself. Could this be the one creature that changes his world or destroy everything? What will it take to make her his and what will he do to make that happen? Reign must go to great lengths to hunt and kill the demon and the fey prince. She will make choices and risk others suffering because of them. Will the right male and an all-consuming desire keep her from making irreparable sacrifices- or will she turn her back on her one chance at love to settle a centuries old score and lose everything in its wake? Will Knox stand in Reign's way or let her go . . .
The main characters the book circles around are Reign, a badass, take no crap from anyone, Leader of the Enforcers, and Knox, a Guardian, better known as the King of the Gargoyles.
The Enforcers are a crew of mostly women and a few men who have been thrown out by their own kind. The team ranges from witches to vamps to some of them not knowing where they come from or what type of creatures they truly are. The group stays in the shadows and is all about executing the streets and taking out demons.
The Guardians are a group of Gargoyles that patrol the night, sticking to the clouds in the sky or perched on rooftops keeping a watch over the city. They have rules and laws that they follow and live by as to not choose sides within their realm.
Both the Enforcers and the Gargoyles are said to be a myth, but as their worlds collide, Reign and Knox find themselves being called to one another. However, Reign has a past. Within her past is the run-in with the Fairie Prince, Rory, who had held Reign capture for some time before the Fairie Queen and sister to Rory found out about her capture.
I would give this book more of 3 1/2 stars rating, not because of the storyline or anything like that, but because of the grammar, misuse of word tense, the absence of words or the use of the incorrect word, and the incomplete sentences. If you can get past all that, the story is amazing.

Review:
I really enjoyed this book so very much. There was just a lot to unpack in the book. That's why I wanted to take my time with it. I read it in small increments. I fell in love with the world that was built. I fell in love with most of the characters. There were characters that I wish I could have seen more of, but I knew that the point was the story between the two leads in the book. There were times that I felt jumped a bit too much and I had to reread it to avoid confusion. This could be a me problem and not a written problem. I do have ADHD. Sometimes my mind jumps over things and I have to go back. That's the only real "negative" I have about the book. I read another series by this author and I absolutely loved it. This book is even more intense than that series! I can't wait to read the second book!
This book was sooooo good. I love paranormal stories. Reign is the leader of the Enforcers and Knox is the King of the Guardians. They both fight against demons and something goes wrong and they wind up all on the same team to fight. Very intense and funny too. The characters are all great. I always love when the author incorporates the other characters in the book. WTG Roux Cantrell on a amazing kickass read.
I love paranormal stories and this one was so so good!! Reign wants vengeance for the death of a friend. Knox is the King of the Guardians and has never had time for love, until he meets Reign. I loved Reign, she was a fierce and strong female character. This book is intense, and full of amazing characters, action, suspense, and kept me intrigued and turning the pages. Excellent read and I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Absolutely loved falling in love with the characters in this book! It is so amazing not only fall for the MCs but to also fall for the side characters! This book is 100% worth the read! It is jam packed with action, adventure, love!! I mean who doesn’t love a good Mates Romance! Do your self a favor and go fall in love with these characters!!
I don’t read many gargoyle stories but I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I love the world building and character development this author puts into this story. Reign and Knox’s story stands out but you still learn so much about the secondary characters without being overwhelmed. Can’t wait to read the second one!
Wow!! This book definitely took me to a different place. I couldn't put down Reign and Knox's book. From beginning to end it was action packed and had me on the edge of my seat. The cliffhanger at the end has me ready to explode with the need to know what happens.
It’s been a while since I’ve read a paranormal book but I have to say I really enjoyed this one. It’s an a addictive page turner for sure! Action packed page turning full of excitement! Can’t wait for the next book!
I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more books by this author. This author has gained a new fan. I recommend reading this book.
Reign and the Enforcers ally with Knox and the Guardians to fight demons. This story is action-packed, suspenseful, and intense. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
If I could I would give "Guarded" the enforcers series a 10 star. Ms. Roux Cantrell definitely doesn't disappoint at all. In this exciting series at all.
Wow! This is not your typical sci-fi/paranormal read! I can honestly say that I've never read a book with these types of characters in it...and I won't give away what they are since it's not in the blurb but I found it very interesting that Roux Cantrell went this route and came up with something completely different than what I've read before. Reign is a strong, tough female lead. At times, I admit, I found her personality a little too abrasive...if that's the word I'm looking for...only when I felt that she was trying to pick a fight with the Enforcers (her friends) for no reason at all. But as I read the book and got to know Reign I began to understand her and what she'd been through. As a reader, you start to see why she is the way she is. I also loved Knox. He's fit to be King in my opinion! This book is full of action, love, and a cast of characters that are not easy to forget. I will say, there are a lot of characters...Enforcers, Guardians, demons, and fey, but they are written about so well that you don't get them confused. It just makes me want to get to know them all more!! Major cliffhanger...but any time I read a series book, I expect this and do not get upset. It's a series...cliffhangers happen! It's written so well that I just want the next book!
*I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*
The story made this book. I binge read... I wanted to see what happened next. I couldn't stop. When you can't out a book down and read in bed until you physically can't go on its amazing. My only qualms were with the editing/typos, but the book was so good I got over it quickly... and I mean super quick like. the story blew me away. There are quite a few characters to keep up with, but I hope that leads to more novels... As they say everyone has a story, and I can't wait til Roux Cantrell tells them all. If you enjoyed The House of Night series, this will entice your grown up world.
Reign is a tough as nails needs no one enforcer. She runs a tribe of misfit creatures who are enforcers just like her and together they prowl the night looking for creatures who break the law so to speak. Reign is still thinks she’s under a spell from the fairy king Rory when she meets the imposing Knox. She fights her instincts and learns things about herself that she never knew existed.
Know is the king of the guardians. They are a group of gargoyles that patrol the night. Perched high up on buildings they watch everyone that passes. Know is informed that a mythical enforcer is in his midst. When Knox meets Reign, he knows she is his future queen. Can they fight the evil threat looming over Reigns head?
I really like the concept and story line of this book. At times I kind of felt it jumped from one thing to the next rather quick and it took me a second to catch up. All in all I did enjoy the characters and their kick butt attitude. Reign might need a relaxing vacation on the beach because no one can be that on all the time. I will certainly be picking up book two because I need some closure and answers.
