Darla was enjoying having her sister, Keely staying with her and working on the food trucks. Just as she was about to get one of them back from some repairs, her boyfriend Caleb was framed for murder, so that took precedence over even (and especially) her mom's visit.

A surprising turn of events explained just why Caleb was framed and whodunit. I was never really sure about the perp until the reveal, so I just followed along and let Darla, her mom and Keely do all the work. They made a pretty good sleuthing team once more so that finally the real killer could be hauled away. It was great how Darla's mom had pitched in on the sleuthing she could do as a lawyer, and she was the one who uncovered a key piece of the puzzle. Then at least Darla felt like when Mom left this time, they were a touch closer to reconciling.

Can't wait to borrow the next book in KU!

You don’t have to read the others to read thus one but you will want to read them after reading this one to catch up with getting to know everyone! This series is so fun! You can’t help but love th characters and the settings. It’s never boring, and never the same. Always something unique and different.
This book was a little bit slower than the others but still just as good. Still a good clean book so can recommend it to my preteen advanced reading friends and anyone wanting a good clean mystery to read.

An excellent addition to the series

Darla and Caleb finally have a first date. Her sister Keely has come for the summer and as things are starting to go well there is a murder at the mechanics shop and Caleb is arrested. The plot thickens with lots of twists and turns and a surprise ending. A fun read.

The characters, their quirks, not to forget the murder… makes this an amazing and interesting read. Look out for India and her destruction or distraction techniques and the beautiful relationships that are unfolding in this highly entertaining cozy mystery.

Nice mystery with an interesting twist - as soon as Darla gets settled with her boyfriend things take a dark turn - her mum turns up! Then the tale really starts with an interesting lack of clues! Enjoyed it, looking forward to the next one.
