Island of Secrets and Scars

Rate this book
Every scar holds a secret.

Betrayed by her fiancée and reeling from an attack that killed their unborn child and left her injured and scarred, obstetrician Cameron Crawford flees to a remote island in search of the healing and peace that elude her. Six years later, she thinks she’s found both serving as the island doctor and raising her young daughter.

Dr. Ian Gauthier has never stopped searching for the fiancée who disappeared six years ago. He’s all but given up hope of ever actually finding her, until a plane crashes on a remote island, and he and his team of doctors are called in to assist the island’s doctor—the woman he’s mourned for half a decade.

Cameron thought the plane crash would be her biggest obstacle, but the accident draws two men from her past to the island. While one man threatens the fragility of her still healing heart, the other threatens the safety of the family she’d die to protect. In order to save one, she may have to sacrifice the other.

I honestly didn't expect it to be as good as it was. I mean, it was a really horrible case of some serious trauma, mixed up with miscommunication, but the angst and emotions it created were so palpable in this story and in this author's writing style that they were practically coming off the pages.
I really enjoyed it✨✨💕

I picked up this book from a local book fair and had a chance to meet Ms. Thomas. I love to support new authors and was impressed with her book covers and friendly personality. I bought two of her books and this is the first one I devoured. I have to say I was thoroughly impressed.

Who says running away won't bring you happiness? Well that is what Cameron Crawford has done. She ran to a remote island to heal. Heal from the horrors and lies that she has been subjected to. But you know what they say.... You can't run from your past, it always has a way of catching up to you. That is exactly what happens to Cameron in this book.

Cameron's character is strong, independent, loyal and loving. She will fight for what she loves no matter the cost to her own safety. She shows this over and over again in this action, adventure romance.

This story was a twisted web of emotion and danger. From one jungle to another violence seems to follow our main heroine. The story is steady paced throughout the book as Ms. Thomas takes her time telling her story and not rushing to get to the end. The plot was well thought out and timed perfectly throughout. She has created amazing characters with so much depth and personality. The problems and suffering throughout the book really punch you in the gut.

Overall the book is a beautiful story full of so much heartbreak and anger. It is a tale of fighting for those you believe in and healing broken souls. It is for second chances in life and love, but with much danger lurking around every corner. It is designed to keep the readers on the edge of their seats with the many nail biting scenes throughout. I truly enjoyed reading this love story and recommend it to everyone.

Now I am ready to move to a little island!

I am usually not a fan of third person, but this read beautifully! Majority of the time I forgot I was even reading in 3rd person.
