"As I tentatively reached for the doorknob, a scene from "Alice I Wonderland" flashed through my mind. Do you remember the tiny door that Alice encountered when she fell into the rabbit hole? In the movie, the doorknob morphs into a little face and begins to speak to Alice. Would this doorknob come to life as well, I wondered? Would it sprout tiny ears, whiskers and a pointy snout?..."

Explore the adventures of Chaplain Laurel As God reveals the challenges and rewards of living on the fringe alongside the 'outcasts' of society.

Humorous and intriguing, this book is a compelling read.

This slender self-published book might be easily fobbed off as "religious stuff" based on its appearance and the word "Chaplain" in the title. While author, Laurel Lafaut, does often approach her story with a spiritual overview-- what you probably expect from a memoir by a chaplain-- she also packs it with hilarious observations, quirky LOL passages, and sometimes even her phrasing made me hoot!

The humor has purpose. Chaplain Laurel is pretty sure God was traveling with her during her late-life University studies and Chaplaincy internship. But things didn't work out quite as neatly as she dreamed they would.

I found this book funny, thought-provoking and inspiring--a really enjoyable read.

Just finished reading this delightful book. I chuckled, saw vulnerability, compassion/caring and openness, felt I was there vicariously. I related to the experiences such as at times of my own "big mouth", sometimes my lack of faith or having difficulties accepting 'what is.' The author come accross as having grown and gained an inner spiritual peace. Each chapter began with onspiational scriptures.
