A complement to Body Parts compiles photographic references of various poses and features, more than one thousand color illustrations, instructional advice, tips on dealing with proportion, and a review of basic anatomy in understanding how to portray the human face. Original.
Despite the many illustrations this book is not very useful, and most of them seem to be 'padding'. You could find similar or better information in most figure drawing books. There are many better books about portraits, for example the William Powell book 'Colour Mixing Recipes for Portraits' is actually much more helpful in learning how to paint eyes, lips etc.
A great book for artists to keep on hand for references to help with portrait work. I used it to do a lot of sketches as practice and found it helpful. It would've been better with actual tutorials for some of it. I'm sure I'll use this again whenever I'm having trouble with a certain area of a portrait. The small section on painting a portrait was also helpful in preparing to do a painting as it is something I haven't tried yet.
