Twenty - Two and the caterpillar journey to butterfly is a gorgeous collection of poetry. The author took us through her growth. It forces you to sit with certain words for a while, make meaning of what it evoked in you. It's a book I'd like to have around me in quiet moments when I can make note of those beautiful pages of strength and motivation, and also be moved by the pain and suffering one sometimes deals with in life. A reminder that this journey has a lot of hope and beauty weaved through it.
Twenty-Two is a stunning collection of poetry and verse, delivered with an original and refreshing voice. Ekta weaves an intricate pattern of loss, discovery and change in every page of Twenty-Two.
It’s divided into two chapters, The Caterpillar and The Butterfly...befitting the coming-of-age theme. And while coming of age typically reflects the changes in one growing up, Ekta's poetry doesn't omit all that remains the same.
The child longing to be an adult, the adult reflecting on past memories, the young adult stuck somewhere in between...this book is about all 3 people.
An Excerpt : "Oh! the wasted years a youth stolen by age stuck in the present with a past that seems like a gift I should return there is nothing left to ponder when you leave it all to burn"
Twenty-Two is beautifully written. One would think it is penned by someone extremely advanced in years. I’ve flagged pages to re-read so that I can uncover its layers and appreciate the wisdom, emotion and beauty that’s this book has to offer.
