It's an abridged version, but good enough for one to learn about the story alone.
Dickens' language sure demands to be acknowledged, but given the limited time for reading in the rushed lives we lead, these adaptation are very helpful.
Oliver's story strengthens my belief that all will be well if one stays true to oneself, and keeps holding on under all circumstances. It's a happy story.
This is a sad story of one boy who spend most of his childhood with terrible environment. Charles want to tell us something about the society at that time through this little boy.
This book was very interesting and a fun, unexpected time. I read Great Expectations but didn't really like it. then my grandparents gave me a copy of this book o I read it for them but genuinely enjoyed this story and its characters. my favorite characters are Nancy and Mr. brownlow
The story about a young boy called Oliver Twist; his mother died when she gave him a birth. In nine of his age the woman who was caring of him sent him to a place that every orphan child has work and just eat a small bowl of soup that place called workhouse. The poor boy was beaten because he just asked more soup and he got punished by sold him to a bad old woman, the woman gave him her dogs’ food to eat and treated him very bad so he ran away and he spent seven days walking to reach London. The boy reached London starved and exhausted and his feet were covered with blood and dirt. When he was sitting in the side of the road crying , a boy in his age came to him and help him to get food and asked Oliver to come with him if he want a place to sleep, so Oliver followed the boy .They crossed the dirtiest neighbor in London. Then, they entered an old house. The hose was very old and the ceiling was black and covered with dirt. The boy introduced Oliver to the rest members of the house. They welcomed Oliver and gave him food and a bed to sleep but unfortunately Oliver discovered that they were a group of thieves. They involved him in stealing while he is innocent. In court the ruler was about excuse him but a witness (book seller) rescues him by saying the truth that he truly innocent. Then, Mr. Brownlow who was staling by other boys, adopt Oliver and take him to his house and take care of him. One day later he got a gone shot from the group of thieves who force him to stale Mr. Brownlow and he actually don’t want to do so. After that a girl of these thieves felt sorry about Oliver and she decided to tell Mr. Brownlow the truth where she led the police to the location for these thieves. So, the police catch the group while Oliver spent his entire life with Mr. Brownlow who took care of him.
I watched the main characteristic in this novel who is Oliver twist. He was born in workhouse and he lost his mom when he was very young. Therefore, he raised in the work house until 9 years old. Like this young age, oliver wanted have food that he want to eat. It was natural phenomenon to young child, but oliver twist was regarded as trouble maker in the workhouse. He went out Mrs Sowerberry's house, but he made trouble with her son, so he went to London. In the London he met Artful Dodger, Fagin, and Bill who are thieves. With them, he robbed a gentlemen's house, and he was arrested because he regarded Mr. brownlow's wallet, but it was not true. On the other hand, he got Mr brownlow's care. It was very warm to Oliver Twist.
As I read this novel, I though that Oliver twist was very poor guy dislike other child. That age's children impose their mother when they want to eat food. However, Oliver twist had to work to live and he had to follow his desteny because of absence of his mother. He had to follow robberies, although he didn't want. The child need mother's care, but he didn't get any love from other people. However, Mr Brownlow gave him love that Oliver Twister had never gotten before. From this story, I thought about person who gave me warm love, although I didn't give any love to them. As I have lived in this world, people think how many interest they could get from other people. They don't want to get lost their own possession. However, parents gave me real love as they don't reback love from me. In conclusion, from this novel, I have though about how deep my parents' love to me, and I decided to say that I love them.
The book illustrates about the life of Oliver Twist. He was a good-looking orphan who lived in workhouse. He was treated badly, but never complained, unless if it was related to his mother. One day, he left to London and met a group of thieves. He was taught to steal things from rich people. However, deep inside his heart, Oliver was a good person. In the end, the people whom became the target of the thieves, treated Oliver well. The story became more interesting when an additional character was added, whom was interested in exploring the background of Oliver Twist. It turned out that the person was the Oliver's step brother who, with the help of his mother, manipulated Oliver's father's will.
