גבר בן שלושים ונערה בת חמש-עשרה נכנסים למיטה אחר הצהריים שרבי אחד. אשה צעירה שהוריה הזקנים מחליטים, פתאום, להתגרש, נותנת טרמפ לגבר שהכירה במסיבה. גבר ואשה יוצאים לפגישה עיוורת, ובדרך הביתה אוספים כלב רחוב.

כך נפתחות שלוש מערכות היחסים העומדות במרכז שלושת הסיפורים שבקובץ - סיפורים שלשונם צלולה, תמציתית ומפוכחת והם מתארים את מה שקורה בין גברים ונשים מזוויות שונות, לפעמים רכות, לפעמים חדות, ולפעמים לא שגרתיות - למשל, מנקודת המבט של כלב שנקלע למאבק כוחות בין גבר לאשה, ומחליט להתאבד.

"חיות מחמד", "משחק האושר", ו"מתי" הם סיפורים על הדברים שגברים ונשים עושים זה לזה ולעצמם כדי לא להיות לבד, על אהבה ראשונה ואחרונה.

About the author

Yael Hedaya was born in Jerusalem in 1964, and now lives in Messilat Zion. She holds a BA in philosophy and liberal arts from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and received an MA in English literature and creative writing from New York University. Hedaya has worked as a journalist and columnist for the mass circulation daily Yedioth Ahronoth and the Tel Aviv weekly, Ha'Ir. She was also one of the head writers of the acclaimed TV series In Treatment adapted by HBO. At present, she teaches creative writing at the Hebrew University and screenwriting at Sapir College. Hedaya was awarded the Peime Minister's Prize in 2001, and her novel, Accidents, was a finalist for the National Jewish Book Award in 2006.

אהבתי את הסיפורים ואת סגנון הכתיבה. אבל הם נוגים ומסתיימים באכזבות ושברונות לב, כך שאם זה לא עושה לכם את זה, אולי לא כדאי...

במהלך הקריאה מרגיש כאילו מרפרפים על הלב בלטיפות משוחות בשמן. עושה נעימי בנשמה. ברגע שאתה מזיז את העיניים הלב מתמלא מורסות חומצתיות ואתה מתפתל מכאבים והעיניים טרוטות מבכי .

הסיפור הראשון - "חיות מחמד " סיפור זוגיותם של גבר ואישה בגיל ה 30 שמערכת היחסים שלהם מתחילה בפגישה עיוורת ובגור כלבים נטוש שמצאו ברחוב ליד דירת האישה. סיפור של רווקים שאינם מוצאים את עצמם בעולם של זוגות וסיפור של תלות שנכנעת לפחד מהבדידות.

הזוגיות מתפתח בלי כוונה מיוחדת ובלי רצון אמיתי. הכלב צופה במערכת היחסים מהצד- כיצד גורמים שונים כמו הידידה, והחלטות שונות של בני הזוג הורסים כל חלקה טובה בזוגיות הזו שגם כך נמצאת על כרעי תרנגולת מרוטה. בתחילה הכלב מאחד את בני הזוג אבל לקראת הסוף הם מרחיקים אותו מחייהם ושוברים את ליבו.

זהו סיפור עצוב מאוד ושובר לב ביחוד בקטע עם הידידה ששמרה על הכלב כשהזוג היה בפריז. החלק הזה שבר אותי. הרוע הטהור שיוצא בחלק הזה הוא כמו מורסה שמתפוצצת ומתפשטת לחיי הזוג גם לאחר חזרתם מחו"ל.

הסיפור השני - "משחק האושר"- הוא סיפורה של מאיה המתמודדת עם גירושיה של הוריה המזדקנים ועם רומאן מוזר ולא ברור עם נתן, בחור מופנם שאינו מעניק את עצמו למאיה למרות שהיא מאוהבת בו.

סיפור חמוץ - מריר על אהבות מפוספסות בהן אחד מהצדדים אוהב יותר והצד השני אוהב פחות. הסיפור הזה פחות חזק מהסיפור הראשון אבל גם בו מתקיימים המאפיינים של זוגיות מורעלת , חסרת סיכוי ושל אי אהבה.

הסיפור השלישי - "מתי" - מספר את סיפורו של גבר גוסס מסרטן בראש. הסיפור נמסר משתי זוויות ראיה של אישתו, מירה, בעשור האחרון ושל אהובתו הצעירה, אלונה, מהתקופה שבה היה בן שלושים. אישתו מתמודדת עם צער המחלה ועם צער הידיעה שלא אהב אותה אלא את אהובתו הצעירה. אלונה מתמודדת עם הלבטים של הפרידה וההחלטות שקיבלה. אלונה ומתי נפגשו כשהוא היה בן 30 והיא בת 15. הרומאן נמשך שנה והותיר בשניהם את רישומו העמוק לאורך חייהם הם לא מצליחים להשתחרר ממערכת היחסים הזו. אלונה צופה בגסיסתו של אורי מרחוק ועושה את חשבון הנפש שלה.

סיפור עצוב כתוב ביד אמן.

למרות שהספר נקרא שלושה סיפורי אהבה, מדובר בספר על החמצות ובדידות ועל כאב היחסים הזוגיים. סיפורים שמאופיינים בפרטים היורדים לנפשן של הדמויות.

The title story in this collection of three novellas is one of the most affecting stories I've read in my entire life, and one that hasn't left me since I've read it. It chronicles, in dogpov, the sad decline of a dog from happy puppy to bitter, angry beast, set against its owners falling out of love and into bitterness themselves. The spare, innocent narrator, the dog, wants nothing but love, and his slow, creeping, puppy cynicism made me bawl my goddamned eyes out.

The other two novellas are also brilliant -- Hedaya is a genius and her translator (Hebrew is her first language) Dalya Bilu does a remarkable, transparent job with the text -- but it's "Housebroken" that made me give the book five stars.

Meine Meinung:
Ein junger Hund wird geboren, beginnt als seine Mutter nicht mehr zurück kommt und seine Brüder und Schwestern Opfer des Hundefängers werden, seine Gegend zu erkunden. Er läuft einem Mann und einer Frau über den Weg. So findet er sich und der Mann in der Wohnung der Frau wieder. Obwohl der Hund nur etwas zu fressen bekommen, und der Mann "nur auf einen Kaffee" bleiben soll. Am nächsten Morgen sind beide noch da. Die Beziehung entwickelt sich langsam. Es wandern Kleidungsstücke von seiner in ihre Wohnung. Sie laden Freunde ein und wachsen zusammen. Probleme bleiben aber nicht aus. Dies alles wird von dem Hund beobachtet und teilweise gedanklich kommentiert, auch als die Sachen des Mannes wieder aus der Wohnung getragen werden. Ganz am Schluss kommt der Mann wieder, gerade als der Hund beschließt das es Zeit ist für ihn zu gehen. "Er will weg".

Mein Fazit:
Das Buch kommt ganz ohne Namen aus. Da gibt es den Mann, die Frau, den Hund, die Kuppler - Freundin. Die Geschichte lässt sich gut und flüssig lesen, zeigt die Auf`s und Ab`s der Beziehung verwoben mit dem Schicksal des Hundes. Ich habe das Buch gerne gelesen und bin nun auf der Suche, welches ich mir von ihr als Nächstes kaufe. Ihr Schreibstil ist anders, aber genau deshalb verfing ich mich in der Geschichte und erlebte sie hautnah.

Three completely different novellas, all providing a different take on relationships. The first novella is quite good, the story of a dog accidentally brought into a home who inadvertently brings 2 people together. Not as sweet a story as it sounds. As each person tries to hide his/her feelings from the other, you wince at what they do to each other. In this story Paris is the least romantic city on earth.

If a story from the perspective of a dog seems strange, how about the real love a man may feel for a 14-year old girl.

Or how about the relationship between a woman and her parents while she finds a casual relationship that isn't quite what she thought. In all these stories, we care about the narrators despite all their flaws.

While there are redeeming qualities in the writers arsenal, the manner in which he writes this book is not a style I love, or even like. Most of the characters are not named, and while I understand it may be to provide an 'every person' anonymity, in my opinion it fails miserably with the reader feeling detached and uncaring about the characters; Although emotions are expressed, they feel vague and blank. And I don't really get why we need to know about this journey...was it even a journey?? The author didn't sell me on the story at any point. :(

dieses buch ist was ganz besonderes. es enthält drei novellen, die alle sehr traurig aber auch sehr schön sind und sich mit den schwierigkeiten zwischenmenschlicher beziehungen beschäftigen. die geschichten sind alle etwa 100 seiten lang, das ist lang genug um sich an handlung und charaktere zu gewöhnen und kurz genug um nicht monatelang an einer zu hängen und am ende nicht mehr zu wissen, was am anfang war.

The first of the three books was by far my favourite, and the last I liked the least. All well written and thought out, but the overwhelming sadness of all the books did nothing for my mood. The first was so clever, mostly written from the POV of the dog but the other two did not live up to that standard.
