Addicted to Hope: 7 Transformational Truths for the Weary, Defeated, and Just Plain Stuck by Drake De Long-Farmer is moving, inspiring and humbly written.

In this compelling work De Long-Farmer unpacks a lifetime of wisdom, experience and stories. His approach is both humble and humbling as he wades into difficult territory usually reserved for trauma and support groups and exposes his heart to his readers. It is no small feat to bear one’s soul on the page for the sake of the hopeful healing of a reader who may never get the chance to express their gratitude. I have known Drake for most of his life and he has been both friend and mentor to me in equal measure.

As a reader I look for passion, grace and great stories. I appreciate how chapter after chapter DeLong-Farmer brings us deeper into his heart, his home and his past as he shows us the reason for his hope. There is confidence, peace and patience within these pages. The journey is fluid, the pages turn effortlessly and I found my soul both bare and full at the end.

Addicted to Hope is a triumph and I highly recommend it.

I have known Drake for many years. We served together on a worship team and in other various capacities in the church where Drake was an Associate Pastor. I remember a long while back when I started reading the initial drafts of this book that has now come to fruition, that the world needed this message of Hope. But I cannot help but think that it is no accident for the delay in the release date, but rather a divine intervention. If ever the world needed this great message of Hope in Jesus Christ, it is at such a time as this. I strongly recommend Addicted to Hope!

I loved this book.

It was such a fresh perspective to take on the topic and left me really thinking about how trauma gets processed and how the pursuit of hope can center a person as they go through challenges and trials in life. Drake's punchy and personal style draws you in as a reader and keeps you reading as well.

I especially like the additional resources Drake cites for further study. There's very little fluff in the book. Just concepts and content. This book leads you to others which is fantastic if you're an avid reader.

I highly recommend the book.

Favorite quote: “But what if hope wasn't something to be captured but invited into and released in our lives and this world?”
A powerful and life-giving message that’s so relevant for today! Drake understands struggle and invited us into a bigger story of God’s grace.

Drake balanced personal accounts with scripture in such a way I was able to approach familiar verses with a new perspective and glean further from the scripture.
