Damage Control

Rate this book
L.A.’s mean streets—filled with vulnerable children. Some are stolen.

Los Angeles Police Officers, Amber and Roy Buckner, want to end their marriage amicably, while diminishing the fallout of the split for their three-year-old son, Gage. But those plans get placed on hold and their lives upended when Gage goes missing.

Anger and fear replace the cordial relationship they’d crafted during their separation, and bitter resentment ignites as the investigation reveals they were both culpable in their son’s disappearance.

Word on the street is that a notorious pimp is selling young children to the highest bidder. Roy and Amber must delve into the depraved world of child trafficking and prostitution to have any chance of saving their son. Can they beat the clock before their son is gone forever?

Damage Control : A dark and gritty novel.

Damage Control is the third and final book in The Buckner Trilogy. Bennett definitely saved the best for last. Damage Control can be read as a stand-alone, however, I recommend reading them in order. Besides, this is an outstanding series at a great price.
Damage Control touches on topics that will bring out many emotions, such as: crying, unable to remain calm while reading, display anger, and many more.
There are two plots that subsequently become interwoven into one fantastic book. This book is dealing with prostitution and child trafficking. A warning, this book may not be for the faint of heart.
Bennett is a retired police officer from LAPD. She wrote a moving book that many well-know authors can not duplicate.
Damage Control has a place in my book cabinet with Michael Connelly and Joseph Wambaugh.

Kathy Bennett is a retired LAPD officer who knows the streets and its down on their luck inhabitants. Her clipped rapid fire story telling style hardly allow readers time to catch their breath as events and new characters bring unremitting tension. Dazzle, an LA pimp specializing in underage girls is on his way back from Utah with two new recruits for his stable. Roy and Amber Buckner are LAPD cops with marriage problems and a young son they both love. Their separation and pending divorce complicate already challenging careers until events draw them together with a common goal. Damage Control presents victims and brutal victimizers in a no holds barred style that may be hard for some to read but won’t soon be forgotten. I enjoyed this hard to put down book and recommend it for those who enjoy police procedurals and thrillers that just won’t quit.

I couldn't put it down. The story deals with subjects that are not comfortable, such as abuse, prostitution, and kidnapping. Ms. Bennett deals with them in a brutally honest way that is also sensitive to the victims. The characters were relatable and believable and the story could have been ripped from the pages of any newspaper today. If you enjoy police procedurals and thrillers, damage Control is a the book for you. I received an advance copy of this book from the author and this is my honest review.

I just finished reading this book! Outstanding ending to this trilogy! This is the third book in the Buckner series and will keep you turning the pages! Really! I finished the book the day I picked it up and read the first sentence! Everything I want to say feels like it would be a spoiler so I will leave it at this: Wow! What a thriller and satisfactory end to the story!!
Bennett's 27 years in the LAPD have lent a true feel and excitement to the book and keeps you reading until the end!

This story is about police officers Amber and Roy Buckner. They have a three-year-old son and are going through a divorce. Payton and Brooke are sisters from Idaho who get conned by a pimp. This story may not be suitable for all as it deals with child exploitation and kidnapping, but a very good story none the less. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Another Exceptional Story

If you are a fan of police drama and their personal lives you will love the Buckner series of books.
Kathy Bennett writes with the knowledge of being a police officer herself and thus creates true to life stories that will keep you reading until the book is finished. I hope she writes more about Roy, Amber, and their son Gage.

One of the best books I've read all year. Really like the characters and the storyline. It dealt primarily with human trafficking and secondarily prostitution. This was the third book in a trilogy
