LETTING GO is Deepak Chopra meeting the Salem witches in modern America. Instead of painkillers and antidepressants, Rebecca relieves pain and heals with touch. Dismissed by critics as quackery, her ancestors were hanged as witches; but what she can do is amazing, beautiful, and life-changing.
After the death of her mother, the betrayal by her best friend and by the man she thought she would marry, Becca searches for the path to healing that we all The way to let go. Not only do her gifts cross the boundaries to spirit, but will they also heal the man she’s loved the most upon his return from war?
Jessica Barcomb has seen both sides of trauma, having survived a near-fatal accident, coma, and PTSD before becoming a craniosacral therapist to help others heal. A writing-intensive English major from Marquette University with her master’s from Union College, she has been published in several professional publications, is a former secondary English teacher at Schenectady High, and has been a craniosacral therapist and owner of a wellness studio, Retreat & Renew, for the last twenty-plus years. She lives on a farm with her husband and three kids in upstate New York. Coincidentally, in researching this novel, Jessica, like her character Rebecca, discovered her own ancestral background in Salem from the 1600’s, where her ancestors fled to Boston at the time of the witch trials. 1st of all let me point out how well written this was. The weaving together of past and present came together beautifully and the storyline was both entertaining and enlightening. I look forward to more work by Jessica! I am a fan!
Letting Go was a perfect first book for author Jessica Perrin Barcomb! The life journeys of Becca and Sarah were thoughtfully written. This book reminds us that it is never to late to begin the process of removing what is not serving us well. I can't wait to read Jessica Perrin Barcomb's next novel!
I had no idea what I was about to read about; but am surely glad to read this book. The story did what title said throughout the book; really “hit home” some parts for me. Thank you!
Note: I received this book as a Goodreads Giveaway
Having never heard of craniosacral therapy before, a lot of this book was new to me. I found a lot of the craniosacral information to be well detailed and interesting, though some of the character interactions and decisions to be a bit confusing due to lack of detail or logical reasoning.
I didn't know what to expect when I started this novel. I have to say I enjoyed it so much. I loved the characters and they way they developed. The story moved at a nice pace and I found myself thinking about the Becca and Sarah even after I put the book down.
I don't want to give anything away, but I thought the topic was so timely with Big Pharma is the news so much lately. I won't get on a soapbox now, but I will leave it to say that it is a topic I would like to learn more about. Sometimes the old ways are the best.
I would absolutely recommend Letting Go. I look forward to whatever Jessica Perrin Barcomb does next.
