The BEST BEAR TRACKER in the world is on the lookout! But can she find a bear?
How do you spot a bear? In The Best Bear Tracker, the rules are quite clear, but maybe, just maybe, our heroine might not be as good at tracking as she thinks.
This hilarious picture book is full of quirky charm. Little readers will love laughing at the main character, who is oblivious to the bears following her through the forest. But are they really what she is looking for?
When John Condon was a child, he was always drawing, so his mother and most of his teachers assumed he would become an illustrator or a designer. He did become a designer, and now he’s an author, too. John Condon was born and raised in London, but he currently lives on its outskirts where it’s a little leafier.
This is a beautifully illustrated children's book which will be a delight for toddlers to preschoolers.
The Best Bear Tracker sets off on her mission and gives hints and tips as she goes along. I thought this was a good aspect as it teaches you about overcoming fear and never giving up. Children will love spotting the bears through the book.
This would be a great addition to a child's book collection and I would definitely recommend.
What a sweet story. While on the surface the girl is going on a bear hunt, the tale is actually teaching you life lessons about being brave, digging deeper and never giving up! The cutest illustrations, I loved wondering where the bear would pop up next. Young children are going to love this!
This is such a brilliant and funny children’s picture book! The girl in the book tells us she’s the best bear tracker in the world and sets off to find a bear. Along the way she tells us the steps to finding a bear, but is she really looking properly? The book is bigger than A4 in size and is filled with thick matt pages of colourful illustrations and some text.
The story is such a simple and yet funny one with the girl telling us the different steps to finding a bear, such as paying attention, going near a river, looking in the trees, etc. Each double page shows the girl trying to find a bear using the steps she’s teaching us. But as you continue to read on, you can see that the girl might not be noticing what is right behind her! The story is very good and children will love spotting the details in the illustrations on each page. While the girl is looking for the bear it’s obvious that there is one nearby watching her, and I love how much closer with each step, the girl gets to the bear, but never notices it while on the search.
The illustrations are wonderful, they really make this story so fun to read! Each page or double page is filled with lots to look at and it’s definitely a very visual story with the majority of what is happening not being said in the words but only in picture. You can spot a bear in almost each of the illustrations and I love how the girl seems oblivious to the bear and how it seems to be curiously watching her in each image. The illustrations are so fun and funny too and the ending to the book is brilliant with the girl discovering what she was looking for in a way, I won’t giveaway what actually happens but it’s brilliant and clever and not what I expected at all. There’s also a final page which made me and my family laugh!
The book is so fun and I would recommend this to everyone! It’s such a simple story, but there’s a clever twist with the girl’s search for a bear and I love what happens at the end and what happens with the bear on the last page too! It’s a brilliant tale that children and adults will love looking at and it’s one I’m sure will be read again and again! -Thanks to the publisher for a free copy.
What makes a good bear tracker? Well you need to be prepared, just like the main character in John Condon's story. John's story is perfectly set in Julia Christians gorgeous woodland spreads. Here we find a bear tracker who knows just what to do. There are 10 bear tracker rules and if you follow each one you will be sure to find any bear.
Although, things don't quite go to plan. This story is the perfect story to share with your child/ren or read aloud with a whole class. Children will be shouting at the bear tracker in this 'it's behind you' style of story. Floss particularly loved the expressions on the faces of the mischievous bears as they evade discovery at every turn. Will the bear tracker track down a bear before the end of the book?!
Oodles of fun and with my teacher hat on I'd certainly use this text to look at lists, speech bubbles, varying punctuation (.?!) and numerals 1-10.
Floss had to make herself a bear tracker kit after we'd read this one and it would certainly be a book I could see children role playing the story after and carrying out their own bear tracking! Thanks to Templar for sending this title our way to review.
What can I say about The Best Bear Tracker? Cuteness overload! ♥️
Seriously, this is adorable, engaging and incredibly funny. The gorgeous illustrations bring the little girl and the bears jumping off the page, grabbing the reader's attention and pulling you into their colourful world. The pictures have so much character you can’t help but smile at the fun and cheekiness on each page. I also love the little drawings that accompany each rule of Bear Tracking. They are cute and clever.
The story itself is perfect for the little ones to read and follow. The beauty is in keeping it simple, allowing kids to immerse themselves in the pure silly joy of the book.
It’s tongue-in-cheek, and I love it.
And I also adore the end. It’s so wholesome and sweet. This book, I’m sure, will inspire a new generation of intrepid explorers and animal lovers.
What an adorable book! A cute little girl is telling us that she is the best bear tracker ever! She shows us all her tools! She packs them in her backpack and gives us her big plan to search for the bear. When she enters the forest, the book points out all the things that she is missing. There is a bear on each page, and shadows, bear-prints and other clues galore. The more she goes into the forest, the more that she seems to miss. Finally she comes upon a picnic area and guess what she sees! Well, your child or grandchild will really love this book and the conclusion! The illustrations are precious and children will be learning as they look at the pictures. The book will open up many good conversations about nature and animals, too.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
We've had such a laugh reading about bear tracking in the woods!
There are many rules and tips to follow to be successful at bear tracking. Our guide knows them all, but somehow still can't see the bears as they follow her through the forest! Perhaps she's not the best at this after all?😆
My 4 yo enjoys looking for the bears and pointing them out as the little girl searches. It was so sweet when, after a couple of reads he declared 'she's not the best bear tracker, she's the worst at it!'😂
Kids love search and find books, especially ones where they know something the main character does not.
A fun story full of surprises. We love the amusing facial expressions and natural forest beauty depicted. The illustrations really bring the story to life.
If I'd have read this book as a child, I'd have wanted to go grab a pair of binoculars and head to the woods right away to do my own bear hunt!
The concept of the story is so engaging: the girl starts by listing all the kit needed for a bear hunt, then instructs us on the ten golden rules as she goes about her search. The fun artwork makes the story come alive.
As such, this book is an ideal companion for indoor and outdoor play to help both parent and child create their own bear hunt.
Plus, the story teaches a child the values of perseverance and courage.
And, there's a lovely surprise twist at the end too!
This was really adorable. A young girl gives her best tips for tracking bears with sweet tongue-in-cheek humour and delightful illustrations that will delight any child. I particularly like it because it's short enough to hold a toddler's attention whilst having detailed enough pictures to engage a 4-5-year-old, making this perfect for storytime groups. The pictures are bright and simple and you can have fun getting children to point out things the protagonist isn't seeing.
Thank you so much @lovebookstours and @john_condon_author for the review copy in exchange of honest opinion!❤️
Such an entertaining story! I was grinning from ear to ear while reading the book. The adorable plot paired with fun and colourful illustrations lifted up my spirit in an instant and reminded me once again to always be brave and never to give up until I reach my goal. I didn't see the twist at the end, it was cute. My heart totally melted. Definitely recommend to check it out❤️
This is an adorable book for little adventure seekers. I liked how each of the steps included something from the tracker's checklist so readers can see how these tools are used. It is a simple story, yet full of adventure for little readers.
The art is well done and suits the story.
Thank you Love Books Tour and Bonnier Books for the opportunity to read and review this story.
The best bear tracker is definitely one of my favorite picture books this year. I showed it to my daughter and we read it together and it was an amazing experience. From the illustrations to the story it all blends beautifully.
I feel that it teaches kids to be organized, pay attention to detail and overall enjoy the outdoors. On top of these useful lessons, the book also teaches how bears live, find food and go about their day. I will absolutely be getting a physical copy of this book to keep with my picture book collection.
My Thoughts: This is a cute children’s book about a little girl who lost her stuff bear. She goes through 10 rules to locate him. This will make a great bedtime book to read it cute and just long enough
