Juha Räikkä teaches philosophy at the University of Turku, Finland. He defended his doctoral dissertation at the University of Turku in 1992 after studying in the autumn term 1989 and in the spring term 1992 at the University of Miami, Florida. Räikkä was a post-doctoral researcher in Austin, Texas, during the spring term in 1994. He has visited the European University Institute in Florence many times (1999 - 2010), and in August 2005 he did research at the Finnish Institute for Classical Studies in Rome. Professor Räikkä is the editor of the Finnish philosophical journal Ajatus. From 2013 to 2017 Räikkä will be the head of the Philosophy Unit at the University of Turku.
Räikkä’s research interests focus on ethics and political philosophy. He has published papers on issues such as global justice, population ethics, group rights, privacy, autonomy, guilt, forgiveness, self-deception, concept of feasibility, and conspiracy theory. Räikkä’s recent publications include a book titled Social Justice in Practice (Springer 2014) and an article concerning the so-called redistributive wars (Ratio.ru). He is the Co-Editor of Adaptation and Autonomy (Springer 2013).
