In this is a beautifully written book there is something for all women in all stages of their lives to connect with. I greatly enjoyed the realness and openness in each devotion. I felt like I was sitting beside another woman who wanted to share with me wisdom in a kind, compassionate and humble way. The beautiful pictures and well designed pages bring such beauty to the reading experience. I appreciated that the devotional is set up for weekly reflection allowing more time each week to read. If you enjoy weekly devotionals from a variety of authors this is something you will want to explore.
I was given a copy by the publisher and not required to write a positive review.
The authors comprising "Blessed Is She" shares 52 weeks of heart-warming inspirations that we encounter every day. In the first week topic "The Lie of Loneliness Distance at Church", is a topic that so many of us experienced especially during COVID, as well as afterwards. However, as the author mentions in scripture (Matthew 18:20: “where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them”. God will never forsake us.
There are 52 weeks of God's promises and revelent topic that someone, somewhere faces each and every day, but through each weekly devotion, we can take solace in knowing that we are never alone.
This book of devotions are truly beautiful. The page layouts and colors are very pleasing, and the fact that each scripture is printed in a colored box makes it easy to find for future reference. Such a great yearly book of devotionals for anyone. I highly recommend to God's children seeking to have a more intimate relationship with Him.
This review is long overdue, but I forgot that I never marked it as finished and here we are. I really did enjoy this devotional from Blessed is She. I had started following this community of Catholic women when Emily Wilson Hussem talked about it, and then I signed up for their daily devotionals based on the daily Mass readings (highly recommend). When I saw this devotional, I liked the idea of working on growing in the areas of loving God, others, and myself. In a weekly devotion for the year, some weeks hit harder than others, but I attributed that to not having that life experience yet.
To be honest, keeping a devotional for an entire year is difficult, but when you're actively learning about your flaws and how they came about and considering ways to become better, it's a very meaningful process. Am I perfect now that I've completed this devotional? Definitely not! But it was super helpful in acknowledging things I can and should address regarding these three relationships. Each day is new and an acceptable time to make an effort to be transformed by Love. That's what this was all about.
Since I'm not perfect (yet...haha), I plan to return to this one at some point - maybe when I feel I don't remember all of the stories and lessons or when I know I've been doing a terrible job at living well (harsh but true sometimes). Anyway, I definitely recommend!
This book of 52 weekly devotions is well done. Although written for Catholic women, I think any Christian woman would appreciate this devotional.
Written in six parts by six different women, each entry contains a brief story, a scripture reading, and questions to make the devotion more personal to each reader. Each part speaks to a different type of relationship: Your Relationship with God; Your Relationship with Yourself; Your Relationship with Where You Came From; Your Relationship with Love and Family; Your Relationship with Friends; and Your Relationship with Calling.
This book is sure to speak to any Christian woman's heart.
Loving God, Loving Others has 52 devotionals that help you find connection. I love the book shares sections on your relationship with God and yourself but also with where you came from, love and family, friends, with your calling. After each devotional it also includes Bible chapters and versus you can refer to if you like to pair them.
Read as a group devotional over the course of about a year and a half. We enjoyed it - thoughtful topics with discussion questions built in, it worked well for our group format. I liked the idea of personal anecdotes from the lived experience of the authors, though some were more talented writers than others.
Loving God, Loving Others is a beautiful devotional, filled with spiritual wisdom. The contributors do an excellent job taking the commonplace and mining it for the spiritual gold within. I just did not want this book to end—it was that good!
