This book is a good starting point for anyone who is about to begin his software journey. Although many interesting topics are touched upon I did feel the author tends to discuss extreme situations only. Less importance is given to the average or good engineer. Nevertheless, software engineering is a profession that is increasing in importance and popularity and a collection of advice from a lead developer like Lokajit was much necessary. What I appreciate is the length of the book. It's a short and compact quick-start guide that gives valuable insights into the career and traditional responsibilities of a software engineer.

I have been following Lokajit on Medium, where he has amassed quite a fan following and built a name for himself in software engineering. I like his posts and therefore considered giving his new book a shot.

As a fan of Lokajit’s writing on Medium, I loved reading an entire book of his writing. This is a great guide for any junior developer looking to get started or someone more senior wanting a review of best practices in the software industry. Short read but gets to the point!
