Cowboy, Love Me Again is the third story in the Cowboy Homecoming series. It “could” be read as a stand-alone, yet there are references to earlier events in the series that if I’d known about them firsthand the entire story might have had a bigger impact on what was happening right now in the series. When I eventually go back to this series I will be starting at the beginning to get the entire picture of this world.

Ansel and Lark are friends – now – but for one night they were far more than that. Yet, neither contacted the other so they both came to the conclusion that the one night was a mistake not to be repeated… and tried to continue their friendship without the obvious naked elephant in the room. It wasn’t always easy and given their inner dialogue, it was very frustrating and hurtful but they managed to not only live in the same small town but work together in a manner of speaking.

I loved the otherworldly portion of this story. One mirror that I’m not so sure I’d want in my bedroom for certain. I enjoyed the constant tension and bantering between Lark and Ansel, their feelings are obvious to everyone but themselves. When trouble strikes friends and family they find themselves on opposite sides of the issue – and that was heartbreaking to read.

Cowboy, Love Me Again was an emotional journey for me. There were moments when I cheered this couple on and others when they both needed to have someone give them a strong, stern talking to! Lark had to make some hard decisions, I’ve very glad at the way everything eventually worked out, but it was certainly difficult, emotionally, to get there. I enjoyed myself in this world and should you enjoy a complex romance with tensions galore – and just as much hidden love to be revealed, then this story is perfect for you.

This was the third book in the Cowboy Home Series with this being Ansel and Lark's story. They had known of each other for years, but they had never really talked. Until, one weekend when Lark was home from college. When a group of college age kids went out to what they called the Spot to party and catch up. Ansel did not get to go to college as his father passed resulting in him taking over the feedstore at eighteen. He could not stay late, because he had a load of feed coming in early the next morning, but he discovered that he enjoyed talking with Lark about her classes. They corresponded nicely with his feedstore. They spent a wonderful evening together, but neither one ever contacted the other one. They each waited for the other one to do it.

After, college Lark went to work for a feed company as a sales representative where she spent a great deal of time at Ansel's feedstore. They took on many community projects together, while they carried a torch for each other. Technically Lark could not date Ansel and work for the feed company, if she did it would be a conflict of interest resulting in her losing her job. Everything about Lark was her career and the company. They always came first.

The symbolism and magic touch with the mirror missed the mark with me. It did not seem to fit in the story right nor did I really understand most of the scenes evolving it. Each book is standalone, but they still talk about characters from the previous books as well as series. You do not need to read those books to enjoy this story. It is an amazing story of what eventually comes down to what are you willing to give up for right and wrong?.

Lark and Her Cowboy . . .

Lark Westfall was getting ready for a 4-H meeting when her brother Bear and his love interest, Pippa. She had brought Lark a gift, a mirror weighing about 100 pounds that Lark and Bear had to carry to her bedroom. By the time they finished, she was running late to the meeting. She showered and put on makeup – she would meet with Ansel after the meeting. She took a look at herself in the new full-length mirror and screamed! Someone else was in the mirror, looking both exhausted and full of terror, dark circles under the eyes, limp tangled hair. Who had she been looking at? It must have been her imagination. She looked again and it was her face, but her dog growled at the mirror and his lips curled. Was her dog chasing away ghosts?

Ansel is Lark’s friend, a coworker and nothing more. Except for one night years ago and never repeated. So Lark pretends they are only friends. And Ansel won’t risk their friendship, even though he also remembers that one night. Will a kiss at the fair start something up with them? What is her image in the mirror trying to tell her? Is this their second chance for love? Or will she reject him again?

I picked up this book because I remember reading Genevieve Turner's first series and loving them. This is a standalone, but I think it would have been better if I'd read the couple books before this one. I'm guessing I'd have been more invested in the characters. I honestly didn't like the main female character of this book. Lark's personality???, choices???, whichever it is, didn't win me over. However, Ansel did have my heart. He's a great hero. I was able to tolerate Lark because of his point of view. This author writes well and had a great storyline. I want to go back and read the others so that I'll be more invested in the world she has created.

Oh. The mirror added a bit of a paranormal/mystic vibe that seemed out of place. Again, maybe reading the prior books would have added some information about it to make sense, maybe?.

Book three in the series brings a second chance romance between Ansel and Lark. The author does a great job developing their story and characters and delivers an emotional page turner. She moves the story fluidly with her descriptive scenes. I loved reading their story!

Cowboy, Love Me Again is a the sweetest kind of heartache. Lark and Ansel launch a sneak attack. From the heart to the senses, Turner takes it slow. A slow dance with temptation.
