High adventure with an abundance of fascinating information and believable characters. Great for middle and high school.

The Czar of Alaska:The Cross of Charlemagne is an intriguing and fast paced book, for where you are trying to constantly keep up with the action of the MacGregor family. Continuing their year long trip around the world they soon embark on a small adventure in Alaska. The very witty group siblings Chris, Heather, and Ryan O'Keefe “R.O.” are able to quickly overcome a incredible snow storm while half way through their dogsledding trip. Although a seeming outrageous experience they soon encounter another adventure after the next. With their famous father on this trip it only is seemingly bound to happen that behind their backs there are infamous schemes being planned, put in action, and torn down. In all of these extraordinary activities the best part of the book is when R.O. uses a homemade radio (built while in Italy) is used by the FBI agent to contact the “The Fighting Bat” (from TEXAS). The precise detail gives a clear picture of the action that is continually throughout. The Czar of Alaska is a nail-biting book filled with picturesque alaskan flora and fauna, yet giving you a taste of culture Alaskan culture. Follow the MacGregor clan on their fourth adventure across the beautiful alaskan wilderness.

Decided not to finish this book. The flat characters, unbelievable plot, and boring sentence structure turned me off. If you enjoy Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys books, this one is for you. Redeeming qualities include intact family that sticks together, parents that are not idiots, and no cursing. But really, the world is full of good books and I'd rather read them.
