Post Pardon Me is a “new book to support and comfort you.”— The Postpartum Stress Center
(OMG, ^^ this is a big deal!—Suzanne)
It’s a particularly terrible 3am feeding, and I find myself thinking, “Being a mother is definitely possibly the worst thing in the world. Why did I do this?” In sharing my insights from postpartum depression (without the slightest clue that it's happening) in this slightly irreverent dark comedy I hope to let you know that you’re not a monster for thinking those dark thoughts, and most importantly, that you’re not alone.
In Post Pardon Me: A Fickle Woman’s Spiral Into Postpartum Depression and Anxiety and How the Hell She Found Her Way Out, Suzanne Yatim Aslam offers a refreshingly honest, often hilarious, and deeply relatable account of the early challenges of motherhood. With unflinching candor, she guides readers through the disorienting fog of postpartum depression and anxiety especially those moments that feel isolating and inexplicable during sleepless nights.
Aslam blends dark comedy with practical insights, letting readers know they are not alone in their struggles and that experiencing difficult emotions does not make one a “monster.” Her memoir is as much about empathy and solidarity as it is about survival, delivering comfort and hope while maintaining a wry and engaging narrative voice. For parents grappling with postpartum mental health or those seeking understanding, Post Pardon Me is a profoundly validating and uplifting read.
A beautifully honest and moving read ,raw, real, and full of heart. I loved the powerful chapter openings, the humor, and the quotes I kept highlighting. The way the author wrote about the unseen sides of pregnancy and motherhood really stayed with me.
Suzanne's words resonated so much with me. I loved her style of writing as she took us on a journey which was so relatable!! I wish more women were talking about this, and I applaud her for her openness, vulnerability and truth. A captivating read!!
