Destiny Born #3

Destiny Burned

Rate this book
I didn’t expect this to be my life. They call me “The Woman”, “Shadow Mother”, and even “Queen”.
I’m also someone’s wife. But does my new husband even want me?
As my role as heir to the North, I knew I’d eventually marry a man that I hardly knew. A marriage that would unite kingdoms that saw each other as enemies.
Never did I imagine I would marry a stranger just to prove a point. A match made of fire and ice.
Fin and I are connected now, bonded by title only, but something about him makes me want that bond to be something much more.
But he is a Hunter. Hunter’s don’t fall in love.

This is such a good read and such a great addition to this incredible series! It’s exciting and engaging and the characters continue to grow and develop as does the intriguing storyline. The world building continues to draw you in as does the storyline and the journey we have been travelling on. A fantastic, epic adventure that I cannot wait to continue on!

This is book three of the Destiny Born series and starts shortly after the main characters Rhen (Rhenara Landis)and Fin have married and begun their journey to Castle South, to catch up with her siblings, who had gone looking for her after not getting any word of her safe arrival there. Fin is a Hunter who burns hot and is used to battling Shadowers with his fire, whilst she is a princess from the north and ice, who was supposed to have married the prince of the South to unite the two kingdoms, but was tricked by their ambassador, who had been sent to kill her. She was taken to the secret land of the Landless, where she learnt she had to marry before her twenty first birthday, to fulfil the prophecy of the Woman of Two Bloods. She is certainly changed by her marriage to Fin and they have both been marked by the magic of their bond, even though they have yet to consummate it. She is now affected by both fire and ice, some of these new powers marking her as the Queen of Shadows, able to command the Shadows to leave her and her companions alone. Something never seen before! They have a group of Landless with them, Quinlan an Elf, Coru a Curupira, the two Kobold brothers, Lynd and Mal, as well as her best friend Sabina, a Gypsy, who saves her from the ambassador. Fin shouldn’t even be able to love, being a Hunter, but he has always been different, as has his best friend in his command, Bowen.
Together, they travel to Castle South, only to find it hidden behind a huge ward and a gate with no opening. When two dragons fly over the tall wall, this is their first introduction to the peoples of the south, other than the treacherous ambassador. She was to marry the king’s son, Prince Jael, but now she is married already, and only wants to find her brother Amas and sister Arabella, to ensure they are safe. She hasn’t connected the actions of the ambassador, to her possible reception once they reach the castle. But she really should have! Only Rhen is allowed into the castle and is told her siblings are inside. The others are told to wait at a nearby watering hole, where supplies are left for travellers. But some of the group don’t believe a word they have been told and feel that Rhen is in danger! Where her siblings really are and how they are being treated, is unclear. Fin hasn’t managed to tell Rhen he loves her and now she is out of his reach and he knows she is in danger! Another short part of the story, which is told in short segments where something important happens, but leaves you wanting to know what happens next. They have reached a somewhat dangerous point in the storyline, with Rhen stuck behind the walls of the castle and some of her secret abilities being revealed, to a man who would use her to take over the whole of their combined lands. I can’t wait to see what happens next and if she manages to escape or if Fin and the others can break in to rescue her. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Alright, so I am basically hooked onto this series... I discovered this author and series THIS Month, and I am already reading the 4th book (3 in the series and 1 pre ) ... so it is safe to take it that i am enjoying the books, am totally absorbed, and finish reading these in a day (the books are short - but totally engaging).
This story takes you to the next level - we learn more about the south kingdom, and for someone who love's dragon stories, this is another side to see - and i am waiting for the next installation to see what happens.
I really like how the characters are developing, the humor and banter, and especially the other story lines that I can see creeping in (there's just a hint, enough that I am creening my neck for more hints in where this is going ... :) )

I received this book as an ARC, and I am so glad that I did!

I eagerly sat down with this book, eager to follow the journey of Fin and Rhen. Abigail does not disappoint as usual. She makes you really dislike or love the characters in the book, but the books always stop with a cliffhanger which makes me long for the next part. Once I have all the books in the series it is much better reading from the start to the finish of the journeys. A bit like a tv series. Once finished you can binge watch and you find something you missed the first time round. Waiting for the next book to continue Fin and Rhen’s adventures. I received this book as an ARC and give my review freely.

This is the third book and a great addition to this incredible series! Rhen and Fin's relationship develops further as they travel to the South Castle to find Rhen's siblings. The story takes a pretty sharp turn and cliffhanger towards the end! It's exciting and engaging, the characters continue to grow and develop, as does the intriguing storyline. The world building continues to draw you in, as does the storyline and journey they have taken.

Wow, I can't praise these books enough!

Rhen is learning more about herself each day and is on a journey to South Castle to find her brother and sister. However things don't go as planned.

I can't wait for the next book to see how Rhen escapes this situation.

Highly recommend reading Abigail's books!

I received a complimentary copy of the book and I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.

good night!

I think I’m the one speechless and mind blow now. Holy crap. We meet Sabina. She’s my other hero! Yep- she’s awesome. And there’s now a race against time. Can Rhen and Fin save themselves, family, friends, the whole kingdom. There’s a lot against them. But I’m loving the pair that they make. It’s amazing! This one is all journey. But yet there’s greatness in that. Both physical and literal. And the race is on!

Rhen, Fin and the rest are on their way south and their journey was entertaining and made me laugh as things do not go smoothly. But in this one they make it to the castle but of course there are some surprises and a twist that made me laugh and need the next one now. Rhen and Fin in this one were a riot as they get closer to each other and deal with everything else. Loved it.

This book was a lovely in-between to the action of book 2 and the action I am stoked for in book 4! The ending definitely had me questioning and wondering about the next book, and I am soooo ready to have them answered!

I loved watching the building relationship between Rhen and her Hunter, and I am deeefitinely sensing another building relationship 👀😏

Rhen and Finn are now on their way to Castle South where Rhen's twin siblings have gone to meet with her. With the recent attempt on her life at the hands of the Southland Ambassador and her new powers the couple will travel the distance with a few of their chosen friends of Landless and a surprise visitor. Finn is Rhen's protector as well as husband and trainer with her new powers and the after-effects that Rhen must go through. But what awaits them at Castle South? The author masterfully writes a third short book to this endearing series. She uses her gift to virtually transport as well as guide the reader through new marital experience shyness, the invaluable feeling of true friendship, the fear and overwhelming anxiety of experiencing new powers. The adventure, battles, love, and epic conclusion to the book make this a 5 Stars rated page-turner. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
