Software Architecture with C# 10 and .NET 6: Develop software solutions using microservices, DevOps, EF Core, and design patterns for Azure, 3rd Edition

Rate this book
Design scalable and high-performance enterprise applications using the latest features of C# 10 and .NET 6 Software architecture is the practice of implementing structures and systems that streamline the software development process and improve the quality of an app. This fully revised and expanded third edition, featuring the latest features of .NET 6 and C# 10, enables you to acquire the key skills, knowledge, and best practices required to become an effective software architect. Software Architecture with C# 10 and .NET 6, Third Edition features new chapters that describe the importance of the software architect, microservices with ASP.NET Core, and analyzing the architectural aspects of the front-end in the applications, including the new approach of .NET MAUI. It also includes a new chapter focused on providing a short introduction to artificial intelligence and machine learning using ML.NET, and updated chapters on Azure Kubernetes Service, EF Core, and Blazor. You will begin by understanding how to transform user requirements into architectural needs and exploring the differences between functional and non-functional requirements. Next, you will explore how to choose a cloud solution for your infrastructure, taking into account the factors that will help you manage a cloud-based app successfully. Finally, you will analyze and implement software design patterns that will allow you to solve common development problems. By the end of this book, you will be able to build and deliver highly scalable enterprise-ready apps that meet your business requirements. This book is for engineers and senior software developers aspiring to become architects or looking to build enterprise applications with the .NET Stack. Basic familiarity with C# and .NET is required to get the most out of this book. (N.B. Please use the Look Inside option to see further chapters)

Despite its broad and promising title, this book falls short on delivering an in-depth understanding of software architecture. Its content, rather than providing a comprehensive exploration of each topic mentioned, gives a cursory overview with an emphasis on Azure, a cloud provider. At times, this disproportionate focus lends to the suspicion that Azure may have sponsored the book's publication.

The expectation of acquiring extensive knowledge about software architecture principles, as suggested by the title, is far from fulfilled. The book's approach can not only be potentially unproductive but may also inadvertently mislead readers seeking to understand the fundamentals of software architecture.

Take, for instance, the chapter discussing best practices in C#10. Although it does offer some valuable insights, it falls short of providing an exhaustive understanding of the subject matter. It skims the surface of the topic, missing out on depth and breadth.

The book might prove beneficial for individuals specifically seeking knowledge about Azure implementation patterns. However, in such a case, the prominence of Azure should be adequately reflected in the title, preferably as the primary topic. This lack of alignment between the title and the content might lead potential readers astray, leaving them with an outcome that doesn't meet their learning objectives.

In conclusion, while the book has its merits in covering Azure, it misses the mark as a comprehensive guide to software architecture, particularly with C# 10 and .NET 6.

Authors try to describe c# and its features for designing and building software architecture. But I think they are not so successful. They describe about some common design patterns and frameworks involved in cloud-based and distributed software architecture but cannot provide enough information to make decision about when and how to use them. This book is neither about C# nor about software architecture, but something in between. That's why you can't learn any of them properly with this book.
Some chapters don’t organized very well and there are some content in that chapters that you cannot find any relationship between them. So it means those chapters just waste your time.
