Are you in more pain than you were 10-20 years ago? Do you feel more tired and sick than you did back then? Are you heavier and on more medications than you were then? If you don’t like the path that you’re on and want a very simple way to change to a healthier, pain-free, medication-free, more-energetic life, this book is for you. This is NOT a diet book. These principles are simple, but not necessarily easy without guidance. Your Plate Is Your Fate will thoroughly explain to 1. How our food pyramid is actually upside down 2. How our dietary guidelines have been making us sicker every year since 1977 3. How some foods keep you full for a longer time, and some make you ravenously hungry 4. How to easily know if a food is making you more sick and why 5. How you can stop and reverse conditions like type 2 diabetes before it’s too late 6. Why a new diet and exercise routine leaves you starving and drained of energy and how to combat it 7. How you can train your body to eat your fat away even while you sleep
Your Plate Is Your Fate: A Simple Guide to Understanding How Your Food Choices Lead to More and More Medications by Steve Hughlett
Steve Hughlett’s Your Plate Is Your Fate explores the powerful connection between what we eat and its impact on long-term health, particularly the increasing reliance on medications due to poor nutrition. While the book emphasizes an essential and timely message—how better food choices can enhance quality of life—it’s not an overly simplistic read. Hughlett takes the time to dive into the "why" behind the science, providing meaningful explanations about how certain dietary habits lead to chronic illnesses and dependency on medications.
That said, while the book contains valuable information, I didn’t find a lot of groundbreaking insights. Much of the advice feels familiar if you’ve already read other works on nutrition and health. However, the author’s ability to present the material with depth and clarity makes it engaging and educational, especially for readers who want more than just surface-level tips.
Even though it didn’t completely revolutionize my perspective, I appreciate the book’s focus on empowering readers to take control of their health through thoughtful food choices. Hughlett highlights a vital truth: your plate truly shapes your fate, and his guide offers a balanced mix of science and practicality for anyone looking to improve their diet and overall well-being.
Thank you to the author for a free Kindle version of this book.
As a relatively healthy person, I’m always open to more ideas for healthier living. This book goes into a scientific deep dive (way too much for me!) on how good choices affect our bodies.
Overall, I felt like this was super hard to follow for your average person and the author’s tone was so judgmental.
It is so important that this information gets out, not just for diabetics, but for everyone who wants to be healthy, feel good and stay at (or get to) a healthy body weight. I definitely recommend this book, it is written in clear, concise language that everyone can understand. Please read it and pass on the information to as many people as you can.
absolutely love how this book makes you realize what you are putting into your body. It makes you more aware about things especially concerning your diet and medications. If someone was struggling with a relationship with food, this is not the book to help you. There were a lot of foods deemed as good and bad; I didn’t like this aspect because where it is supposed to help you realize the food and healthcare system as a whole, it felt like you were being shamed for eating something you enjoyed every once in awhile (which is definitely not the goal of the author).
