This is a good workbook for those going through difficult times. Larson created this book to help us think redemptively, find reasons for thanksgiving, and go deeper in prayer. (6) It is like a journal in style with space for writing. Larson has included inspiring quotes, Scripture to pray and thought provoking questions as writing prompts.

There are some aspects of the book I found surprising. There is a question, for example, that prompts us to remember a time when we felt we were our best self. We are also asked to dream of what we would like to be true of us at the end of life. The idea is to get us out of the current situation and gain an eternal perspective. Remembering and dreaming become spiritual practices in the journey of healing. I really appreciate her distinction between holy lament and self-pity. That insight is particularly freeing.

There is some repetition to the questions and journal prompts. The idea is that we would heal in layers, going deeper in each cycle of questions. The repetitive practice also helps us retrain our brain to God's truth, establishing new thinking patterns.

This journal was made to go along with Larson's book, Strong in Battle, but I found this book works well on its own. One does not have to buy that one to gain a great deal from this one. If you are looking for a guided journal to help you heal as you go through difficulties, this is a good one.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

Soul Care for the Battle is a guided journal that can be read along with Strong in the Battle. Personally, I do not have the book. There are quotes from it throughout the journal, and while I'm certain that those reading the book as well might get a bit more out of using them together, I must say I really liked this journal all on its own as well. We are given enough to understand what we should be journaling, even without having the full context of the book.

We read a lot about how great journaling can be for mental health and self-care, and as Christians how it can be used to grow in our relationship with God too. Still, I must admit that I so often stare at a blank page and have absolutely zero ideas about where to start. And this is coming from someone who loves to write. Guided journals are great for that reason--- we get the benefits of journaling while taking the guesswork out of where to begin or what we should write. This journal is packed full of prompts and loads of space to write. It also features not just quotes from the books, but other great quotes and more importantly scripture as well.

At the time of this review, I have not yet gone through the entire journal, but I really am enjoying what I have seen so far, and look forward to working my way through the rest.

**Book received for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

A Soul Care for the Battle is a new journal to go along with her book Strong in Battle. She begins the journal by sharing how when the storm rage how we first lose our sense of direction. This journal will assist us in taking inventory of our life and connecting with God on a deeper level. The book first explored the topic of trials and how we view them and what we tell ourselves impacts the warrior we are supposed to become. She encourages readers to write down the current battles that is pressing on us, most concerning, background noise but bothersome. Each section included scriptures, spaces to write down our thoughts, questions, and a wide variety of tools to grow in our walk with Christ.

I would recommend this awesome journal to anyone who is seeking one to help them prepare for battle and to stand strong. One of my favorite things was when she discussed faith declaration and this stated how we speak with authority, how we are blessed, how we will triumph over our enemy. Another favorite area she covered was the thoughts that don’t belong in our brain. We can do this by instead focusing on redemptive phrases such as Ephesians 2:10. I loved how helpful the book was in writing down your thoughts and growing in our faith. This is a great tool to use in strength training to prepare for battle.

Soul Care for the Battle is a guided journal designed to help you care for your soul. It can be used alongside Strong in Battle by Susie Larson or by itself.

I can’t say enough positive things about this journal! After finishing the book, I discovered there was a journal to accompany it. Strong in Battle was one of my favorite books, so I ordered the journal. I used the journal independently since I had already read the book. The journal will appeal to anyone regardless of whether they have read the book.

I’ve kept journals since childhood, so I’ve owned many of them. I usually stay away from a guided journal because, in the past, the questions and prayer prompts didn’t inspire me to write. I love this journal because it’s not divided by days or weeks. The practices, questions, and prayer prompts are continuous. Like Larson’s book, this guided journal helps me listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit in my life.

The back cover accurately describes how the guide helps you:

-anchor yourself to the promises in God’s Word
-inventory your thoughts and feelings
-find reasons for thanksgiving
-go deeper in your prayers
-and even make room for laughter

I look forward to writing in it daily because it helps me draw close to the Lord.

Soul Care for the Battle is a well-written guided journal by author Susie Larson.

Whether we are fighting a battle, going into one, or coming out of one Ms. Larson’s guided journal is appealing to the Christian woman. It may be started at any time as there are no specified dates.

What we will find are Scriptures to pray, a place to list where we stand in our battles, a place to list the thoughts we have on repeat, a place to list memories we made this week, faith declarations, and more. As the holidays come upon us what better way to nurture our souls than through Susie Larson’s Soul Care for the Battle?

I give Soul Care for the Battle 5*/5*.

Soul Care for the Battle by Susie Larson is an excellent resource. It was in originally intended as a companion book for Strong In Battle Why the Humble Will Prevail by Susie Larson. However the book is not needed to use this journal. I love that Susie for shares there are no rules to the journal. It truly is a great resource to reflect upon Scriptures and write about what the Lord is showing you.

The journal offers many prompts for you to respond to. Prompts such as things you are thankful for, healthy choices you made, precious memories, current battles, most pressing battles, the way the Lord is speaking, your laments, things that don’t belong in your brain, thoughts about God, important memories and a variety of other resources. This journal is a true treasure. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review. I am happy to recommend this journal as well as suggest giving it as a gift and keeping one for yourself.

I was sent this book from the publisher/publicity team. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.

I have recently gotten into journaling and I am always looking for new material that works for me. I really enjoyed this book. I do journal digitally, but I was able to use this to enhance my journaling.

I loved the daily prompts. I have not finished this yet, but I like that I can turn to it when I need it. Journaling is been great for my self care and I look forward to flipping through the rest of the pages during my personal journey.
