My Columbian Death

Rate this book
Kidnappings, car bombs, cocaine, the Amazon and madness. Welcome to Colombia, where life is cheap and so are the drugs. In 2006, Matt Thompson travelled to Colombia in search of the life he might have led. Born in America, his father was offered a post which would have taken the family to Bogota, but he turned it down & came to Australia.

Alured by the topic, I thought that this book would offer the same interesting and colourful tale as 'Marching Powder'. Instead what I found was a selfish, self indulgent story of a man, who departs from his wife and new born child, to embark on a childish adventure to 'find' what life is really about and inturn himself - in Columbia.

He should have saved himself the trip, half way across the world, and just looked in the mirror and grown up alittle!

Took me a while to get into it, and found some parts difficult to read (ie. bull fighting), but overall it's a good book, well worth reading.

Gripping and amazing. The first real page turner I've read in a while.
