This is a slim and cute book that I picked up from my local bookshop. I sometimes manage to find some gems such as Monmouth, a history, by the former Monmouth School Headmaster. This book is cool because it charts the rise and aftermath of the Chartist movement in what was then known as Monmouthshire.

There are some very interesting insights into the rise of Newport and the importance of the Chartism Trials in Monmouth that give context to the issues that working people faced at that time. Of course, there is some good information about the leader, John Frost, but also other leaders as well as some cracking photos.
