About the author

Bob Moss is a member of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Northwestern University in Chicago. He coordinates film study groups at OLLI on topics such as “The Art of Watching Film”, ”Scene by Scene” and “The Story of Film.” He also leads a number of biweekly movie discussion groups in which the members analyze current feature films and conducts monthly post-screening discussions at his favorite “art” film theaters in Chicago. Bob is a graduate of Northwestern University (Ph.B.) and I.I.T. Chicago Kent College of Law (J.D.).

Bob was inspired to write his book by the positive response he received from the discussion group members, who learned how to use the film-analysis techniques.

This is probably a very good book for those who wish to study how to watch movies. I sort of ended up reading it by accident. There are interesting ideas here.

But if you're just looking for a good book to read, maybe go for fiction or biography or history. This is more of a classroom thing.

Into movies? Go for it.
