What would you do if the unthinkable happened? Where would you find the strength to endure? The Gordon family was confronted with that very challenge when their five-year-old son, Sawyer, known for his big blue eyes and vivacious spirit, cheerfully pedaled his bike onto their busy road. Moments later, a distracted driver, someone the family knew, stood over the motionless child-the unthinkable had happened. Part memoir, part Christian apologetic, Hope Remains is much more than a self-help book on grief. It is a transparent story of loss, love, forgiveness, and the unshakeable goodness of God. Colored with humor and stories that make you feel as if you're engrossed in a fireside chat, Hope Remains sends the message that shattered hearts don't have to mean shattered hope.
Need Hope, Read This Miraculous Story of the Ultimate Hope
Finding hope in the worst circumstance that the world could give, that is a miracle. There simply aren't words to describe the peace my heart feels reading this book. It is an almost unimaginable act of forgiveness for two grieving parents to stay obedient to their Creator and offer grace to the young man responsible for their son's death. But God in His infinite wisdom is using it for good... the advancement of His kingdom... the spreading of light. Thank you, Summer, Repp, and Casey, for sharing your heartwrenching, redeeming, miraculous journey with us all. I am blessed by this book and hope many, many people read it and let forgiveness and grace flood their hearts as well.
I listened to Carmen & Summer's podcast while at the gym - I HAD to get the book and absorb it all! It is very hard to express my feelings about this book. My heart breaks for Summer & Reppard for the loss of their son & all the trials that followed, not to mention Casey, but also swells as I read their testimony and their love for the Lord Jesus! What an example of Christian love & forgiveness, and clear examples of how the Lord wants us to live. The earthly world is a terrible mess right now but knowing what we can have ahead, we truly find comfort. God bless you sweet family and I pray that Satan will give up on you, knowing you are firmly grounded! Thank you for sharing your open wounds & inspiration, this story will stay with me for a long time!
This book spoke to my heart. The Gordon family is grieving the loss of Sawyer. My family is grieving the loss of Samantha. She was 20 years old and she too was struck and killed by a car as she walked on the road near her home. I have blamed myself and others for not being there when she needed us most. Through this book, I have been able to forgive myself and others involved. I know that I will be reunited with her and I will honor her memory until that time. Thanks Summer and Reppard for sharing this message with me and the world. Gael Clark
I've highlighted this entire book, I've made dozens of notes and I finished it feeling overwhelmed with God's love for me. This book showed me how God can work through your suffering to accomplish His purposes in your life. When you experience suffering, you can respond in forgiveness and trust God to work all things together for good just as Summer, Reppard and Casey did. Thank you all for listening and responding to your heavenly Father, He is glorified through this book.
Wow! This book speaks such hope into the depths of pain and suffering. If you need encouragement that God is using your suffering for good, DEFINITELY read this book.
This is a great book, no matter your specific walk of life. I cannot even begin to fathom the tragedy that the Gordon family had to go through during Sawyer’s accident. I’ll be honest, I am not an overtly religious person. I picked up this book because we know the Gordon’s through my daughter’s swimming lessons. This book still speaks to me in so many ways. It reminded me to be grateful for the privileges that I have. To be kind and open to those around me, because you never know the battles that someone else is going through. And ultimately, that hope remains, despite the world’s challenges. I definitely recommend this book to any and everyone. Plus, they just released the audiobook version recently!
