Silvano's Redemption

Rate this book
Silvano is Commander of the Cyborg ship Freedom. He feels responsible for his Cyborg crew and has spent the past century trying to keep them free of the Human Alliance. Humans represent everything Cyborgs hate, a plague upon the universe, destroying everything in their path. Before they fought for their freedom, Cyborgs were considered little more than expendable slaves.

Tessa and her twin sister Tara are abducted from Earth by aliens that resemble man-sized lizards to be used for breeding. They are rescued from the lizards by these strange, emotionless beings who claim to be Cyborgs. Tessa isn’t sure what to think about the stern commander but can’t deny she finds him as attractive as she does terrifying.

Things heat up between Tessa and Silvano when he is forced to use her to lead a traitor Cyborg away from his ship.

My first book by this author. It's definitely not your typical cyborg romance and there's a lot included in the plot, but I found myself hooked throughout and wanting to know what would happen next. I was disappointed to discover the ending is a cliffhanger, especially when the book is so long. I love how the author writes though and how she weaves everything together, and I'll be checking out some of her other books

Was he capable of caring, of loving another person?

This book had the potential and promise of being amazing and then couldn't quite do it. The plot and story was fantastic. I was hooked from the first. The characters were so real I felt like I knew them. I connected with Tessa immediately. So brave and strong, so filled with compassion and love. She deserved a happily ever after.

My biggest issues were with Silvano. There was so much to love about him. So damaged, so honorable, so needing of love and tenderness in his life. But the truth is his mood swings gave me whiplash. I became exhausted and frustrated beyond belief. He was also inconsistent and contradicted himself constantly. One moment he's convinced Tessa is the love of his life and is trying to think of ways to keep her with him forever and the next he's not sure if he trusts her and has no real interest in her being a part of his life. Similar thoughts, actions and words, back and forth, until I was ready to throw the book across the room. I know he was uncertain and torn but it almost became ridiculous to the point of absurd. No one can be that conflicted. It began to come across less like true inner turmoil and more like the author forgot what she had written earlier in the book. It almost ruined the entire story.

As for the end, despite what the author claims in the blurb, this is not really a stand alone. And although it's not a full on cliffhanger, it's also not complete. Too much is left pending and undecided. Even Tessa and Silvano are more happily for now instead of ever after. We never even get an I love you from either of them. So unsatisfying.

Finally, I'll be honest here, I read the ARC for the next book in the series, Saving Mathis, before I read this one. I loved Saving Mathis and wanted the entire backstory which is why I read this book next. What I discovered is that the author apparently forgot some of what she wrote in book one and so there are many, many inconsistencies between the two books, some minor but some not so minor. Denna really needs to go back and re-work both books so the stories match. Maybe remove some of the spoiler stuff in book one and maybe end it before they meet back with the ship. If she does that, and if she fixes Silvano, change some of his inconsistent behavior and allow him to grow more, express himself and really start to feel, then she will have two truly incredible books that will blow most other books in the genre out of the water. I hope she does. And I hope there will be more books in the series in the future. There are others who's stories need to be told and one in particular who needs more than anyone to find true redemption and the healing power of love. If you read these books you'll know exactly who I mean.

Tessa wakes up and finds herself in a strange ship surrounded by robots and lizards. When Silvano, a cyborg commander of the space vessel Freedom, rescues her, tension quickly builds between them. Follow these star-struck lovers as they go on a thrilling adventure in space.

For thousands of years, the human alliance has held cyborgs like Silvano as enslaved people. Now they are trying to hunt Silvano down. While on the run, Silvano and Tessa develop a relationship despite their differences. The alliance wants the cyborgs under their control and will stop at nothing to ensure humans are in control. Will Silvano and Tessa be able to defeat the alliance and live happily ever after?

Silvano’s Redemption by Denna Holm is a steamy, action-filled, suspenseful novel that you will not want to miss. Holm’s work immerses the reader completely into this cyborg-filled futuristic world. This well-written book does contain some graphic scenes between the characters in a few parts, but they do not overrun the story.

Holm’s worldbuilding skills are fantastic, giving readers a look at our possible future. The details of the physical environments and the social and political climate make this world highly believable. The characters are exceptionally well written, and the tension between Tessa and Silvano grows as the reader learns more about them. I definitely found myself attracted to the commander at one point or another.

As for the ending, I would have liked to of known more about what happens with Tessa and Silvano. I felt the author left a lot of loose ends; perhaps there is a second novel in the works. I feel like there were characters on the Freedom that have a story of their own to tell.

Silvano’s Redemption is an imaginative cyberpunk science fiction novel that will take readers into a reality that is not entirely improbable. The fact that this reality could happen will have readers on edge with the action and adventure of an intergalactic chase. As the main characters struggle with figuring out the budding romance between them, questions of morality and the direction of the future will have to be answered.

thrilling ride

This book opens with a bang and the story keeps building in excitement all the way to the very end. This book has EVERYTHING! The world building is outstanding and the characters are believable. Even loveable. The slow build romance between Tessa and Silvano is sublime. The story is complex, and the writing has an excellent flow that really pulls you in. I genuinely haven’t enjoyed a book this much in ages.

This book is full of adventure and danger around every corner. I did find the book a little long, but I was so engaged in this story that I felt like I was right there with the characters. I was rooting for Silvano and Tessa to work through their feeling for one another. .

Depressing

The storyline was unique and interesting. Triggering content throughout entire story. I'm depressed now. No happy conclusion. Many lose ends. No closure.
