Niamh Someone has isolated me from everyone I know. My boyfriend. My best friends. And now my daughter. Not to mention I’ve lost my job because I can barely walk.
Things couldn’t get much worse. But that isn’t going to stop me.
Whoever's behind all this, I’m going to find them and stop them. Once and for all.
Edie I finally know what my family has been hiding from me. But it doesn’t make me feel any better. Living with Dominic and his dog, I’m more isolated than ever.
I moved out to find freedom, but Dominic’s place feels more like a prison every day. Did I make the right call, or was I better off at home after all?
Will Niamh find out who’s behind everything? Will Edie keep using her powers, whatever the cost? Find out in the fourth book in the Afterlife Calls series.
This is a series that I didn't know I needed in my life until it was there right in front of me. Then I have been taken on this fantastic arc in these first four books which there are no words for. There were twists & turns, parts you couldn't put the books down, & evil endings! I shouldn't be surprised by these things given the author, however this series is a whole new level compared to other books she has written. While this is the end of the first arc I really look forward to seeing where K.C. Adams takes the series next & what she's got instore for all of the characters.
Book three left us hanging, wondering what could possibly be next for mother & daughter, Niamh & Edie, after having a major argument & Edie walking out. Well moving out. She was understandable shaken by the lies she felt she'd been told her whole life. Lost & alone she turns to the one person who seemed to be telling her the truth. The question is, is this the best choice? Especially with so many unknowns & evils lurking out there. Then all the ghosts which are in town which they haven't tracked down yet.
This is where book four comes in & trust me the answers to all those questions (& the others the first three books left you with) are solved in this. But also don't worry, while this is the end of one arc, it isn't the end of the series, & you're still left with a few little questions to stew on with this book too.
Spoilers beyond this point!
Book four is a rollercoaster of emotion. More & more it seemed like Edie is being led down a dark path, & further away from her mother. Then you have Niamh who's struggling with the loss of a close friend, concern over her daughter, trying to mend a friendship, dealing with what happened to Maggie & the secrets that revealed, & wondering what is happening with her & Ben. Ben I really miss in this but he does show up in the last moment to save the day you could say. Well worth the wait but hopefully he plays a bigger role in future books. It is not until the last few chapters that the truth starts revealing itself to Niamh & Edie. With stories of the things Edie is doing reaching Niamh she can't help but begin to question why she's doing these things & just who is leading her down this dark path. Then even Edie herself starts to question things & discovers something far darker than she could've expected. Now I won't reveal the twist ending too much more, but it is worth the read & wait for it. The climax is amazing. I've read two versions & the draft I read first was incredible. Somehow it was taken to a whole new level of incredibleness & amazingness for the published final version.
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
After finding out that her mother lied about an important part of her life, Edie has chosen to leave home and stay with Damien. With her necromancer powers flourishing under his instructions, she finally feels as if somebody is telling her the truth. But Damien reveals that he is sick, and he wants her to use her powers to heal him. Is it all innocent, like he says it is, or is something else going on?
Meanwhile, Niamh is falling apart. Her daughter is gone; her powers still don’t work, and Ben is now ignoring her calls. Plus she’s still reeling from physical injuries, the loss of her best friend, and a friend’s death. As things continue to unravel, she has to decide what to do. Will she go after her daughter or let her do whatever she wants? And will Ben stay away forever? What can she do about her life?
With the conflicting viewpoints of mother and daughter coming to a head, the tension in this book is palpable. The magic is more amazing than ever before as Edie comes to realize just what she can do, along with the consequences. From start to finish, you will be enthralled and riveted as you trace the lines that connect the cast of characters and discover new things about them and the world they live in. This thrilling conclusion to the first arc in the Afterlife Calls series is one you’ve got to read if you want answers to the burning questions that were built in the first three books.
I really enjoyed reading The Witch's Sacrifice and Afterlife Calls is now my favorite series. If you love things like Buffy or Charmed then this series is for you. The mix of supernatural problems and human dramas is addictive! The characters are so well written that you feel you are right there along side them.
This book holds the answers to all the suspense of the first three books. And even though it has answered all my questions I find myself eagerly awaiting the next book to see what happens next and return the world of Edie and Niahm.
Give the Afterlife Calls series a read and I promise you won't be disappointed!
MUST READ SERIES! This is the fourth book in what is a page turner series that I couldn’t put down! Who’s behind all this??? Things are getting worse and the clock is ticking! Secrets are revealed that cause rifts in Niamh’s and Edie’s relationship and puts them all in serious danger. Isolation seems to be the key to whoever is behind all this. Everyone knows that you are stronger with family and friends around. Will the gang be able to find their way back to one another to take on the evil that lies in this quaint town they call home? Turn the page and find out! I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed!
This book answers a lot of questions from the previous books.
Edie is isolated from everyone she holds dear. A secret was revealed to her and little did she know that the one responsible for all her troubles was the one closest to her.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It focused on Edie and her relationship with Dominic. There was a twist I never saw coming. This book keeps the reader in suspense. I could not put it down. If you loved Supernatural, you will love this book. Can't wait for the next one.
In the fourth installment of Nimah and Edie’s story about who or what is causing them to be isolated from their friends continues. K. C. did a fantastic job of rounding out what has been building up from the last three books. A lot of questions are answered and Javier is around for moral support. He is by far one of my favorite characters in the series.
We be happy fan with the book and can’t wait to see what is next in the series.
Well this book did not go the way I thought. If you enjoyed Supernatural a d the Winchester Brothers, you will enjoy this series regarding the mother-daughter duo of Niamh and Edie and all their friends.
Edie leaves home after finding out her mother was not honest with her. She is being isolated from her family and friends and being led down a bad path. She doesn’t realize this at first but her mother does. Can she find her way back to her mother and friends.
Niamh and Edie are separated and feeling isolated. The story has many turns as they try to figure things out. The characters are interesting and complex. I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Better then what I expected! Thought it was just going to be an easy read that I could pick up and put down, when ever I had a spare moment. Not so, got pulled into the story and could not put down! Looking forward to next books.
