TIM PARR grew up in West Sussex. He spent his early career in London and now lives and works in land-locked Oxfordshire. He has three grown-up sons and two senior cats. In his parallel universe he lives by the sea on a west facing bay, fixing up an old sailing boat while his imaginary spaniel snoozes by his side.
The book follows several characters throughout the book, weaving in and out of seemingly unconnected circumstances. I liked the method of writing and was very intrigued by the unfolding plot, so couldn’t put it down. At several points as things were getting going, I was very frustrated and lost track of who was who because of the huge cast of characters.
I have never been so happy that I stuck with a book though! While it took a but longer to get there than may have been completely necessary, the overall story and twists were wonderful and perfectly placed!!!
Thank you so much for the book (it was a Goodreads Giveaway) and I am looking forward to Tim Parr’s next publication!
My daughter bought me this book, and it was my favourite Christmas gift. I really enjoyed reading this book, and thought it was fantastic how the strands were woven together to create the story. How Tim wrote so exactly about young lads growing up in that particular era is uncanny - it was so accurate. If this was Tim's first novel, I can't wait for the next one. I was in London in the period when this book was set, and it's so feasible you wonder if Tim has some inside knowledge.
Enjoyable read, paints a good picture and whilst it took a couple of sessions to read the first few chapters, finished the rest in two late night reading sessions - got me gripped. Surprised it’s a first book!
An enjoyable page-turning read. Set in the 1970's, this thriller captures the atmosphere of low-life London really well. There are some good plot twists as well as some funny moments - the book was a nice way to spend a lockdown weekend!
I loved the book and read it in record time. I was expecting more to do with sailing and was surprised at how gritty it was. I didn’t understand why Morgan was taken by the second lot of hoods and released?
The characters were excellent and I want more please Tim.
