I picked this book because I wanted to indulge in some fantasy adventure of a witch and this book filled that mark. As I started reading it I was very excited and the initial pages were quite interesting. I was swayed with the words. But as the story progressed it started to get boring for me.

I had a lot of questions as we progressed in the story but seeing as it is a trilogy and this is the first part of that trilogy I was able to made myself understand that they will be answered in the next installments hopefully, so I let it go.

My major disappointment came from the lack of world building. I wasn't able to picture the witch realm (it could be my lack of imagination but it is what it is). The plot was a bit predictable for me. I did like the MC she was very much an 18 year old girl. I like her chemistry witch Jake and I really loved the slow burn but there were these scenes that seemed too forced to me and it didn't have any impact as it should've been or as I expected.
The climax was a disappointment to me. I hope it overcome all the shortcomings in the next volume.

Oh and I had a hard time deciphering the usage of excuse me over usage of the word 'Zephyr'. I still can't get my head around as to how it was used in the sentences and what it meant. I'll be really grateful if anyone can help me with that.

I think my disappointment mostly came from being too excited to read it and having high expectations as I read the initial chapters and they seemed really interesting. But I hope the next installments does away my disappointment.

This was an average read for me. I was entertained enough to keep reading, but I was waiting to become more invested in the plot. This is a witches/magic story and I eat that up, so of course I was going to enjoy this. I love Lilly and Jake, and June.

The side characters were amazing, and I thought the premise was interesting, but it fell a bit flat. Like for example, it took me quite a bit of time to realize the Coven isn’t in the same realm as the human realm.

I do wish these characters were aged up, I think that would solve some of my frustrations with them being 18 and Gracie/Jasmine’s mentality/inner monologue. Gracie was just so hot and cold with this whole thing (and many things overall really), which is understandable to a certain degree, but when she is mad one second and then not mad the other, and then the cycle is repeated, its a bit jarring.

I would have liked to see more of the witch realm’s world building and more explanation of the magic system, the different types of witches/magic, and more on Gracie/Jasmine’s magic.

Overall this was ok, my final rating was 2.75 stars rounded up to a 3. It will be interesting to see where the rest of this trilogy goes.

This was a great book. I liked the relationship between Lilly and her brother Jake with Gracie. It was good to see the emotional part that happened when Lilly and Jake were lying to her and see how hurt she was and how it took Gracie time to get over it. Seeing how Jake's and Gracie's relationship slowly change was amazing and after Kaiden showing her how Jake felt about everything made her feel bad about how she treated him. I think this was a really great book and would recommend if you like friends to lovers and witches.

Engaging writing style. Not much mystery with the plot. World building started off strong but there was a bit more explanation needed in areas. Interactions between characters didn't always feel natural so it was a bit distracting. While I won't be continuing with the series I would read from the author again. Probably a plot with more mature characters
