Jeanne Flood’s book of poems, "America, Love Stories and Other Poems," allows us to share her insight into the people she loved, the country she was so thankful for and the world she adored. These poems give us a glimpse of the woman who married young, raised seven children, taught English as a Second Language, lived a life of service, laughed often and was the proud grandmother to countless grandchildren and great grandchildren. She left us too soon during her favorite season, Christmas, in 2011.

It is heartwarming to look back at a woman’s life through her poetry and short stories. She had a gift for expressing her experiences and feelings through her words. Each one captures the essence of an important time in the life of a special woman who grew up during the depression, fell in love with a soldier and raised 7 children through some tough times. She never lost her appreciation for life and she touched many people through her kindness and empathy.
This book touched me on a personal level, striking a nerve that helped me see things in a very different way. Its a positive note on the hardest of times. It exemplifies the powers that one can conjure up when faced with times of great strife- whether its war, financial hardships or maintaining a relationship.
