Losing My Innocence

Rate this book
Imagine Holden from Catcher in the Rye, losing a big chunk of himself like the loss of his younger sibling, the protagonist here is a 16-year-old-girl who feels the weight of the world on her shoulders. But unlike Holden, she can't go around skipping class and making out in the backseat of a taxi because her loss has made her fear ever losing again. So instead, she spends her days trying to make the world a better place and her nights writing poetry about the agony she experiences everyday.

I felt this book in my heart
🖊️ We follow the journey of the author in this book a hijabi immigrant who went through a lot in life heartbreak/Islamophobia and so on it was so heartfelt and it made me cry because I relate to most of it even though I didn’t experience any of it,but to see what hijabis goes through breaks my heart I usually don’t like none fiction books but this one I loved, also the character growth was so beautifully writing and I recommend everyone to read it it’s not even that long just a short story and poetry.
