This is the book I always reach for when trying to describe a technique to others or when encountering a new problem that I'm not confident to face without guidance.

Especially valuable are the techniques which are fast becoming forgotten. I can instantly call to mind three within this book that I'm keen to evangelise and hopefully prevent extinction: weaving in a patch, rastering a seam and pounding in a leather patch.

The diagrams are large and clear and the writing style is easy to follow. Between them, they make even the more advanced techniques achievable by all bar the complete novice and the results are very much worth the effort.

I'd recommend this book to anyone who cares about maintaining the life of a favourite garment or in saving the cost of replacing it.

While her desire is for invisible mending and I don't really mind if it's visible, it's helpful to see her technical approach to making repairs that will last. A fun read.
