Rate this book
A mentally scarred ex-Royal Marine, recently released from prison, must risk everything he loves and holds dear to save his brother.

Three years ago, former Royal Marine Ryan Shaw was sentenced to five years in prison and dishonourably discharged. Now released and on parole, he struggles to rebuild his life and evade the shadows that have haunted him since Afghanistan. That is until a phone call tests his one true commitment: his loyalty.

William Roberts is a loser, a drug user up to his eyes in trouble and debt—trouble he can’t handle, debt he can’t repay. But he has an allusive get out jail free card: a relative who can.

Shaw soon finds himself submerged in a violent world of drugs and murder, where he’s forced to carry out an illegal inspection—a task that has the potential to take everything he has left, and everything he is fighting for.

As the events set him on a collision course with his own demons, Shaw must decide how far he’s willing to go to save his family.

About the author

Andrew Giles

3 books2 followers
Born and raised in the North East of England, Andrew spent the majority of his youth hating school and playing truant. It wasn’t until his late teens that he found a love of reading and creating literature of his own, drawn at first to the likes of Andy McNab, Chris Ryan, James Herbert and Shaun Hutson, before discovering the likes of Lee Child, Stephen Leather, Richard Stark and Gregg Hurwitz.

As a young man, he enrolled in the British Army, serving in the Royal Armoured Corps for more than 9 years, deploying on tours to Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan.

After leaving the British Army, a time he is very proud of, Andrew set to work creating the protagonist, Ryan Shaw, a self-medicating ex-Royal Marine, diagnosed with PTSD; a violent anti-hero with with high values in loyalty and a sense of “Doing the right thing”. Self-publishing the series himself on Amazon, the first book, ‘More Than Blood’ was pleasantly received.

Other than the writing, Andrew occasionally puts pencil and brush to paper, creating works of art worthy of anyones mantlepiece or wall.

If he’s not writing, sketching or spending time with his family, Andrew can be found either in front of the screen catching up on the latest thrillers or out on the tarmac running, taking part in numerous half-marathons or charity runs.

He continues to live in the North East, dividing his time, as best he can, between work, family and the things that make him… him.

Amazing book.

More than blood is the series starter to Ryan Shaw book series, an action fiction with unexpected twists and turns that spins shocking revelations of reality into a chain of wayward circumstances.

Ex- Royal Marine and recently released from prison, Ryan Shaw is finally out. Serving five years in prison after being dishonorably discharged from the Royal Marines, he wants nothing but to turn a new leaf. The eventful situation of Afghanistan still rattles him, trying to put some amount of thought as to what actually happened there. He didn't have wait long to find out.

His younger brother is in trouble, so without giving a second thought, Ryan packs up and leaves for North East. All he wanted to do was simply stay out of all the mess never truly knowing it was going pull him right in the middle of it all. One wrong move could decimate everything that he holds dear. As events begin to unfold, the world of drugs and murders become a frequent part of violent incidents. The non-stop, blazing and quick witted anticipation will lead the way for top-notch one of its kind action novel.

An adrenaline pumping action power punched story with incredible cast of characters. The plot was absolutely well-written with twists I couldn't anticipate. Andrew's writing style is astounding, as he created memorable characters and wove them into this fast-paced story where dangers were present with them in their every waking hour. The protagonist, Ryan Shaw's character portrayal is one of best because he got that hero vibes who is not scared to show his ugly side to the people who preach terror and havoc. The plot development isn't a slow one, as a reader who loves delving into conflicting action novels, this aspect automatically counts a plus from me. With the second book already published I don't think I need to wait for more Ryan Shaw's intensely gripping story, so I'm hopping right in.

If you are fan or reader of action movies and books then I would recommend that you give this book a try because the scenes and description are visually stunning, it'll feel like watching an action merged thriller movie. The story is going to captivated you from the beginning without letting you go until you reached the end.
