T. Bishop lives in too humid Texas. A long-time dreamer with the goal of publishing their very own book, but always too shy to even attempt is now breaking out of their comfort zone. To bring you stories that, hopefully, stay with you, bring a smile to your face, or heck, even tears to your eyes - they're not picky. When not writing, which isn't often, you can find them reading (both books and manga), taking pretty photos, watching anime, and trying out new recipes in their kitchen.

"I might not fully understand everything that you're feeling, but that's what makes us work. We balance each other out." - Una, page 61.
Book 2 in the Harmony Series was just *chef's kiss*. I want to do this review justice because of that ending... I needed to let that simmer and collect my thoughts for a bit. Now that I've had a moment... OH. MY. GAWD. The final book has some big boots to fill and endless possibilities on which direction it's going to go.
And thank GOODNESS this book didn't have the dreaded "middle book syndrome". It was like one of the porridges Goldilocks tries: not too hot or too cold. It was just right, and gave the perfect amount of information to explain what the HECK happened at the end of book 1, and left me at the edge of my seat waiting for the final book.
One of the first things I noticed when I picked this book up was the improvement in T's prose and sentence/paragraph structure. Adverbs were used sparingly, and the paragraphs were smaller and didn't pull away from the pacing of the story. The character's dialogue felt more realistic, and some of the banter between the original cast had me in stitches.
There's parts of the world we didn't get to see in the 1st book that were explored on in book 2, namely the mermaid clutch and the nymph colony. We learned more about the lore in this world, and more about what each character can do, and how they operate. One of the main things that stood out to me was how the author introduced Selina's druid abilities when it was relevant, and not just dumped out in a lengthy paragraph. She's fascinating and powerful, and I can't wait to see if book 3 will unleash more of her abilities!
Each character also had beautiful character arcs from start to finish - T's specialty. Every character introduced was there to serve their own purpose, not just as plot devices. And the relationships were all healthy and not toxic -another one of T's specialties. For example, Una and Hanna had a misunderstanding about halfway into the book. They gave each other NECESSARY space, then talked it out like grown adults within a few pages. It drives the point forward that the miscommunication trope is the worst trope to ever be written, and should be locked into a vault and forgotten about.
Quotes - there were so many of them that I narrowed down a few of my favorites:
"The look that passes between [Hanna and Una] is one of pure love, such limitless happiness, that it baffles me how anyone in town could see anything other than what it is. Two people completely smitten with one another. Making the most out of life together... How is that so wrong?" - Solomon, page 91
"...[Solomon] smirks at me, the teasing grin changing the energy about him, and I knock my closed fist against his bigger one, wondering for a moment how someone like me got so lucky in the bucko department." - Una, page 173
"That'll teach them that size only matters when it comes to sword fighting and reaching for things placed on high shelves!" - Una, page 174
"Unfortunately, she couldn't realize before our last meeting that you can't make yourself whole again by breaking others into fragments and stealing their pieces for yourself." - Trident, page 248
Overall, I really am invested in this series, and can't wait to see where the final book of this adventure will take us and the characters! :)
‘The Truth Of the Sea’ is a sequel to the very impressive and captivating ‘The Gift Of The Sea’, both are apart of ‘The Harmony’ series which I believe is going to be a trilogy.
This book was filled with action, adventure, romance while still including deep topics/conversations. I also don’t know how they managed it but T Bishop also had such amazing lighthearted and realistic characters. I care for them so much, my love has only grown for them since ‘The Gift Of The sea’. I also appreciate the diversity of the characters histories, identities and reactions.
On a quick more personal note, I recommend reading this series if you want to escape or distract yourself from life. It is so capturing and I get so absorbed into this world. I have mh stuff (the most lighthearted way I can put it sorry 🙃) and books are how I distract myself. Sometimes books just can’t do it, but this definitely can 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 kid you not I read it during a depressive episode and it really really helped me feel better.
Please remember to read ‘The Gift Of The Sea’ before embarking on the adventure that is ‘The Truth Of The Sea’
Though book two doesn’t take place primarily aboard a pirate ship, there are still a lot of adventures for our crew. It was interesting getting to see more of the world through Hanna’s eyes and how her relationship with Una flourished. Watching the two of them continue growing together in spite of everything they faced was so sweet. Several new characters are introduced. Urian was probably my favorites. I loved how everything is carefully structured with the same rules, roles, prejudices or biases we face, but everybody is slowly learning to overcome these, to work together and find their own truths. Even when things are changing, they hold space for how things were. It’s such a beautiful continuation to their journey while still building tension for whatever comes next.
I love this series so much, and T. Bishop did not disappoint with book 2. I didn't want to put it down. In book 2 Una and Hanna are preparing to take on Demetrius, and they find the help of new friends. We get to see how the mermaids live and, and the crew we know will overcome their own obstacles on the way. There is plenty of action, and T. Bishop never fails to make me both laugh and cry with her books. I love that there is a deep message of being who you are and accepting and loving people even if they are different from you. T. Bishop is an amazing writer and I can't wait to see where book three takes us!
