When the world wants you dead, where do you hide? I have been in Arcane Landing for three months, laying low and recovering from what the Virgo wolves did to me. Wanted by their pack, shut out from my own, and ghosted by my fated mate, what else could go wrong? That’s when news of my former fiance hits.
Hayden is missing. My best friend is a hostage, held as collateral for my actions. And the fae king has declared war on my pack. Fan-freaking-tastic.
The only thing I can do is search for Nicasia, the eternal fae I was once sworn to protect. If I can find her, will I know what to do? What it means to be an eternal protector? Or will this new magic swirling within me consume us all?

This writing duo just knocked it out of the park!!!!!
Where to start......
Turns out Enzo.....may be a super villian!? What!? There are signs people 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩 Granted this is not confirmed nor denied, but again red flags people!!!!
Zara is becoming something else, something more. My heart still bleeds for her loss in book 1 and it looks like there is a slight possibility that all is not lost on that front. A lot less impulsive in this book which I LOVED! Dare I say in the end she was quite the big play maker. Can not wait to see what is next for her!
Hayden, makes an appearance at the end and shockingly I feel bad for him and want him to get is retribution! Someone needs to pay!!!!
Ewan, well here is a little addition I am in lust...errrr...love with. I mean sure there is the Zara/Enzo, Zara/Hayden things but I am rooting for Zara/Ewan. I said it! I am not taking it back! It probably won't happen but in my mind. It. Already. Has.
No release date for book 3 💔! Seriously my heart ached to see no release date, or even a book title.
For the past three months, hiding in plain sight from those who are looking for her. Struggling to recover from what the Virgo wolves did to her, she is absolutely horrified to discover that the Leo Fae are holding her best friend, Brooke, hostage because of her actions.
Zara is determined to find her missing Fae fiancé, Hayden, so that her best friend is returned safely to the Geminis. While all of this is happening, she’s also dealing with mixed emotions about Enzo, her fated mate.
Wow!!! I absolutely loved this second installment in the Eve of Eternals series. The writing was excellent, and the action was exhilarating. I also loved the addition of the character Enzo, a disgraced heir to another wolf pack. I also enjoyed learning more about the Eternals and their backstories.
Zara. She has been through so much, and I truly feel sorry for her. She’s smart and sarcastic, which I love, but she’s incredibly stubborn at times, and prone to making snap decisions that aren’t always for the best. All in all, I really enjoyed this book, and I can’t wait for the next one!!!
This is a great read! It’s addictive, action packed and a great exciting paranormal story that holds you and keeps you hooked. We get some background as we follow the characters on their journey and we get to see their growth and relationships develop. There’s mystery, intrigue and suspense, magic and more then a little sass and that ending!!! Looking forward to reading more!
Zara has grown so much since we last saw her. I couldn't love Zara more. "Mate Rising" wil definitely make your heart race. I actually had to put the book down at one point for that very reason. "Mate Rising" definitely raises the bar for both shifter romances and fantasy books. One of the most refreshing series I've read in a long time! This is a truly breathtaking and magical read.
Mate Rising I received this book for free as an ARC, in exchange for my honest opinion. I am a longtime fan of the Sophie Davis books and this story does not disappoint. Mate Rising is the second book of a series and is a page turner. The main character is Zara, also known as Zosia, who is a strong, loyal, feisty, stubborn, young woman. She is fun to watch get in and out of sticky situations with the help of several other strong and at times, funny characters. Unfortunately, there are many reasons why she gets into trouble. No one tells her the entire truth. There are so many unanswered questions people are keeping from her, making her volatile at times. Enzo, her soul mate, never tells her what she needs to know, he only gives her bits and pieces, he is therefore untrustworthy and infuriating. Zara is responsible for so many lives and it’s difficult to make the correct decisions when everyone around her has an ulterior motive and hides facts from her. I’m excited to see what lies in store for Zara and I want to see her kick some serious but!!
I started reading this book because I love everything these authors have written. I enjoyed the first book but struggled to get really invested in it until the end. Of course, they left me on a cliffhanger so I had to continue the series! The second book is even better than the first. You really get to know the characters and learn some background. I don’t want to give too many details because that would make reading it less exciting for new readers, but if you were on the fence after the last book, give this book a try. It really gets you invested in the characters and the story.
Purchased this on Kindle Vella and received a copy to review
I love this series. Book 2 continues with Zara now wolf-less living in hiding in the supernatural world. She starts to hear bits and pieces about what happened after she disappeared and well .... let's just say she isn't happy!! Great sequel to the series with more backstory and character development. Really appreciated the writing in this one .... not only was the overall book a page turner, but certain phrase choices were utter perfection. Can't wait for more!
I received an ARC of this in exchange for a review. This review is 100% my own.
Things are really heating up and getting crazy in this book. More is revealed along the way about what's going on. Yet for every answer there's another question around the corner. Get ready for oodles of intrigue, magic, snark galore 😉, and one ticked off female who just wants her life back and is ready to save those she loves along the way. Prepare yourself now for the HUGE cliffy that will leave you desperate for book three!!! I can't wait to see what happens next with this brilliant cast of characters.
This series is so freaking addictive! Just when you’re left dying for more, the Sophies drop new episodes in the Kindle Vella app, and the addiction continues. I don’t want to spoil anything about this, but Zara’s move at the ceremony left me with my mouth agape. You go girl!! Also, my crush for Ewan began in Winter’s story, and I loved seeing more of him in this! I can’t wait to see what happens in the next installment!
For those of you who are not aware, you can continue reading on Kindle Vella whenever the Sophie’s drop more episodes. I also highly recommend Fae Rising so you can follow along with Winter’s story!
3.5 ⭐️ the story’s development has picked up a bit more which was nice seeing. I wanted a bit more action lol but it was still enjoyable. The MC I still have my moments of just wanting to shake her bc she’s annoying me lol. But all in all I’m enjoying the growth in the story. And I love the development into her “protector” side (I say that lightly lol since our girl hasn’t done much of that… it’s really been quite the opposite 😆) but I’m super curious about Winter, her story has so much more to say.
But I’ve gotta say I don’t care if Enzo is her mate. I’ve set my sights on another guy, from the legit moment he stepped into Faenanigans. And I’m crossing all my fingers and toes that my guts direction is right, it has rarely set me astray so PLEASE don’t let it be now. Choose your on destiny dammit! Is what I found myself exclaiming quite a lot through this book. I’ll be tragically devastated if it doesn’t happen. Coz Enzo nope. I’m not there for it. I wasn’t a fan particularly of his character even in book 1. But Mister rejected wolf? Yeah, I’m totally there for it.😍
A lot of intrigue and curiosity is building and I’m interested to see where it all goes. All these little intricate tethers are being dropped (It’s like the book has an iceberg effect going on which is cool)…and I imagine by the final book it’ll start gathering them up nicely.
Sorry I know these reviews probably seem slightly odd for me. But got hands full at the moment so just shooting out real quick stuff. But felt this is still a decent gauge of my opinion and thoughts 😊 …see it is possible to not completely ramble 😂
I really wanted to like this book but the inconsistencies and lack of world building made it confusing, hard to follow and overall frustrating. We are given very little information on what the eternals actually are and what there purpose is. There are no clear explanations which I was hoping would come in this book. Apparently, they have loved several lives but they are also impossible to kill? Makes no sense.
The world building is also nonexistent. I have a pass on this one in the last book but I just can’t overlook it any more. In this world, they have 4 moons but it’s close to California? What? You are either hiding in enclaves on Earth or not. Where exactly are they? Little pieces of information are thrown in but nothing is fully described.
Inconsistencies for days! This book is all over the place. They get the whiskey out but she’s drunk on moonshine?!! At the end of the last book Enzo literally says that this is the closest Zara has ever been to picking Hayden and just now it said she picked him in half her lives (of switch we know very little).
I wanted to like it and wanted to stick it over but I just couldn’t overlook that massive issues anymore. I think these authors have potential but this series needs some serious editing and rewriting to make it actually work.
This was a hard read. My biggest issue is that as the reader we were left as bling as Zara who was clueless the entire book. Everyone around her withheld information so she never had any idea what was going on. And as her frustration grew mine did too. Only the way Zara is written is to be impulsive and quick to act without thinking so now you’re stuck having to watch the stupid decisions she makes or things she fail to address that are glaring issues. It was hard to like Zara in this book. It was hard to like her in the last book too but it was not this bad. Also lots of inconsistencies and jumping around.
Ah! What a great read! Zara is still as snarky as ever, even with the events that happened at the end of Wolf Rising. We get to meet new friends, and visit new places! It's so nice to be able to travel places within books instead of sitting in one stuffy area the entire time.
There is so much intrigue I couldn't put it down and constantly found myself trying to sneak a chapter. AND THAT EPILOGUE WHAT?!
*heads to the 'zon to download the next book*
Heads up, if you've read The Cursed Fae as well, some of the characters we meet are recurring! I love so much when books crossover. 💕
Zara ran away the night before her wedding. She wears a glamour so she cannot be recognised now she is on the run. It is too dangerous for her to be recognised. Her fiance was a prince. Her brother is now looking for her but doesn't know who she really is under the glamour. An eternal. Dreams. Visions. What's real? A cabin. A missing vampire. A true mate ceremony. Children. Infinity. Holy cow what a fantastic story. Where on earth does this author get her unbelievable imagination from. Bring on the next one and hopefully it won't be long as I cannot wait to read it.
Mate rising was a deeper look into Zara and Enzo's story. But really, it has become more than that. I have more questions are reading this book. Several twists have developed and while I still do not understand the prophecy and how the new characters fit, it has been an interesting journey so far. There were times Zara annoyed me with her stubbornness, but I am still enjoying the book for the most part. I wish it did not include unnecessary adult scenes. Otherwise, the book has a good mix of action and plot. Good writing and strong dynamic characters.
I’m gutted I can’t rate this higher but it was just hard work throughout. Spent the ENTIRE book trying to figure out what was going on and everything got murkier and murkier the further I read. Her relationship with Enzo is infuriating. And the epilogue…… just pure frustration.
It has however piqued my interest enough that I will read the next one to see the resolution, I just hope it’s not as over complicated.
This book picks up where the first book ended - Zara learning to live as a human. Of course, as an Eternal, nothing goes smoothly. She deals with staying hidden, being near her enemies and her family without giving herself away, knowing who to trust, betrayal and sacrifice. There were several twists along the way with an unexpected one at the end. Now I must go buy book 3 to find out what happens.
I believe I have an unpopular opinion I do not like the main character! I continue to read this book because I like the plot line but it’s hard for me to empathize with the main character when she keeps on making stupid mistakes. It seems like she doesn’t care about anyone but herself. I understand that she makes some selfless decisions for her family. However, every time she’s told to lay low she does the opposite, and it ends up, playing a major impact on those around her.
I think I enjoyed this book more than the first. Even though Zara can be annoying and sometimes unlikeable because of her careless choices, I still want to see how it all plays out. There are so many twists and turns to the plot that kept me entertained and in suspense that I will definitely get the next book when it comes out.
I read this over a month ago and it was fantastic! I loved where Zara's story has taken her and the new people she has met along the way. And that ending...no spoilers, but it packs a punch and I'm so here for it!!
I can't wait for book 3 to come out, but I've been enjoying keeping up with the story on Vella!
The twists and turns just got a whole lot sharper. Emzo and Hayden are freaking ridiculous. Seriously, these 2 boy's are making me crazy. And don't even get me started with Zara! That woman is the most pigheaded, stubborn brat to walk the pages of this series. I get why she's the way she is, but seriously!?!?!
So many facets in this story that keep you reading and wanting more. Ewan adds another element to Zara’s story and makes me wonder if there’s a possible third man in line for Zara’s heart?
EXCELLENT STORY! I HOPE YOU WILL WRITE BOOK THREE.
I am an avid reader and fan of fantasy! Sophie Davis has been the writing several books that I loved! Fantastic writers! Keep writing and will keep reading!
Another great edition to the series, with Zara trying to figure out life after having her wolf taken and living among the supernatural. But things are never easy, and Zara must go and find Hayden, with help from some others. I’m ready for the next book already!
This had such promise but we spent 400 pages getting no where and no closer to resolving anything. I can’t slog it out for another two books to not even know if the series is finished.
