Robin's beginning to think that everything has settled down in Spellford Cove after Antonio's death, and that she can finally start living a normal life.
But little does she know, things aren't going to be nearly that easy. People in town are disappearing, and Robin thinks there might be something magical at work. And why does she have a bad feeling about the new woman who's arrived in town?
Samantha Silver lives in British Columbia, Canada, along with her husband and seventeen-year-old dog named Terra.
When she's not writing cozy mysteries, Samantha loves travelling (she's most recently been to Egypt, Jordan and Florida) skiing, eating Dairy Queen, and complaining about how hard running is.
Proof is in the Potion by Samantha Silver is Book 7 in the Spellford Cove Series. This is such a fantastic book, I love this series.
Robin is such a fantastic main character, things seem to be settling down for a little bit, or so she would like. There are a series of murders happening in town and she is worried about what is happening and a strange new red headed witch!
I really enjoy Robin and Hunter's romance, it has progressed so nicely through the series and they are a perfect fit. They murder mysteries are really well written and I was surprised at the final reveal.
The characters are so fun and well written. A wonderful addition to a fantastic series.
Not my favourite in the series. A bit weaker than the rest, perhaps because the new "bad guy" felt more like "monster of the week" than a new opponent to actually keep the series flowing.
The book is still cosy though. I like relaxing in this story-verse.
The ending of Vanessa's story with Joe felt a bit like a disappointment, but if I think about it, I don't really know how it could have resolved itself any other way.
I've found it odd all the way through the series that Robin has just casually known Joe is a murderer for seven books without doing anything about it.
It does feel a bit out of character, since she's so fast to jump onto the opportunity to investigate the murders of random strangers. She's gotten to know Vanessa quite well, after all.
My own issue with the whole thing is that I will actually miss Vanessa! But since the series is coming to a close soon, I guess it was time.
PREMISE: In this one Robin's life has gone back to some form of normalcy (after what happened in book 6). That is until a string of murders occur. One at the Park, One right outside of her shop and Joe (Vanessa's Killer). There seems to be a pattern. Both the first deaths occured the same way, shot with a bow and arrow. With only the knowledge that it was a red headed witch, does Robin even want to get involved in solving those murders? But when Venessa tells Robin that Joe is dead, Robin becomes determined to assist Vanessa in letting her know who finally killed him.
THOUGHTS: Good book. I feel like this one is the set up for the second arc. I'll put some spoilers in below. But spoiler-free: I was interested in Joe's mystery but not so much the other 2. I love the magic in this series and thought the paranormal side was good (however I am hoping to not have this become a pattern - more in the spoilers below).
Beyond the death of Antonio, Robin has been getting along fine until suddenly there's a batch of murders. As usual the cat's reading his kindle, Hunter's in on the big secret and there's been no fallout or visits from the supposed witches committee to rebuke her for revealing magic to a human, utter waste of the foundation Silver laid for that.
Robin can't leave anything alone so she digs into the three murders and discovers two have been committed by Artemis who's now aiming to kill Robin herself and the third is Joe.
Finally a resolution for Vanessa the psychotic ghost, however it strikes me that there's no payback for the gamblers.. why didn't "oh so kind and wonderful Robin" make them pay back to Joe's family??
It's jerky, wooden and rather boring with the final battle being rather ridiculous.
Bad Witch Robin's beginning to think that everything has settled down in Spellford Cove after Antonio's death, and that she can finally start living a normal life. But little does she know, things aren't going to be nearly that easy. People in town are disappearing, and Robin thinks there might be something magical at work. And why does she have a bad feeling about the new woman who's arrived in town? This is an interesting book. Artemus is a bad goddess. She intends to kill everyone. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
Such a good book! Just started reading this author. I really enjoy her books so far no disappointments. I like that she doesn't put in all those sexual stuff in there while the characters are in relationships. The guy even goes home. So nice to read. Love this series. Just not happy that the next book isn't on audible yet. Not sure if I'm going to read it or wait till it's realized on audible. But if you like murder mystery's take a chance with her.
3.5! I loved the main mystery of this book because it tied up an ongoing plotline however I did not enjoy the larger plotline that has carried over from the previous books. I think im just a bit over it. I really love the characters in this book and I LOVE the family dynamics and the Bakery and I wish we would spend more time with those aspects. I'm not sure if I'll continue on with the series or not yet.
As always, Ms. Silver writes well. I am enjoying the series. I like the fact that when one book ends the next one picks up the story, so it’s one continuous reading. I like the characters, especially Robin at her cousins. I love Jackie. She is a hoot, and I’d like to see more of her.
This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
Good Read. Glad Vanessa is all set. I liked these characters and the plot. The rest of the wizard/god's should heed the warning. Looking forward to reading the next installment.
There is little humans won’t do to protect themselves and their family from danger. Robin had this lesson on repeat in this book. Cute, fun and heartwarming as always.
Proof is in the Potion (Spellford Cove Mystery book 7
This one was another winner. I highly recommend all her books. Samantha Silver writes a great paranormal mystery. She has great characters that are in every book. She tells a great story. Diana Romano
You must read this series! Love the magic, the stories and the characters. Takes you out of the norm! Truly a gifted writer with a touch of absolute hilarity as well as a bit of the darkside!!!
