Clare Bentley is a married mother of a son and a daughter. She discovered a love for creative writing in secondary school English, which was the only lesson she cared to attend. But the only thing she ever wanted to be was a mother, being just 19 when she had her son in 1995 and a daughter 17 months later.
She started writing fan fiction when her children were small and she needed an outlet from the privileged role she played in their lives - in a bid to have a hobby. That developed over the yeats and in 2007 she wrote a fan fiction based on the TV show, Supernatural. It got people's attention. Once her kids were grown - 5 years ago - she decided to take the advice of friends and try her hand at writing; something that was hers, with a world and characters she created from scratch. It took 4 years for her to write her debut novel - wanting to do it the justice it deserved... and that led here.

What a great collection of stories, I can't decide which one to read next. Great price and a good cause, plus I love sports romances.
I read J A Melville's - A test of endurance
What's more important in this long horse race? The trophy at the end, the chance for Olympics or a lifelong prize...love?
This is a story of competition and yet love finds a way every time. This couple are not without their flaws, lack of trust and baggage. I enjoyed their journey very much.

Playing the Game by Clare Bentley
Terri, a broken lady who has been humiliated by her cheating husband, rises above her anguish for her 7year old son. Even though she was breaking inside, she felt she had to keep strong for her son and maintain a normal life.
Brad was the man who got away, a persistent image in Terri's mind that never left the her, always posing the question "what if?"
Mike, her ex-husband, is a constant disappointment, not just to her but also to her son, as he never fulfills his obligations.
Can Brad and Terri find a way back to each other?
The story was enjoyable to read. It was easy to relate to and held my interest. In life, we all wonder what ifs. Some posing the question is our current relationship our soul mate or a stand-in for someone we can't have?
I enjoyed the author's attention to detail and the descriptions, which allowed me to visualize the characters.
I appreciated how the characters each had their own viewpoints and morals, and how beautifully they were written. You can get a feel of who they are as a person from their words.
"I am strong. I am ferocious. I'm a mumma bear trying to take care of her cub"
I would recommend this story from the anthology, and I am looking forward to reading the entire novel.

I bought this for TL Wainwright's story and read a few more. All these stories are sooooo good and highly recommended

What a fantastic mix of authors and stories all set around sports buy giving you many different sports backgrounds from American football.. skateboarding and even horses!
Bought originally for TL Wainwrights story Linebacker I've loved reading some of the other stories involved and plan to read more as the time goes on.
So Linebacker .. Hope is living a difficult life with her religious father and even can't find her place at school.. the American Football team and herself have a real issue with pranks as they can't stand each other.
But when in the middle of a prank Hope gets caught out an unlikely person comes to get rescue.
This story has TLs humour throughout as well as some hard and difficult issues involved... would love to read this as a full story!
Ready to jump into more authors stories now to see whats next!

Novella stories
Brought this book as I'm friends with one of the author's, I'm so glad that I did, as I hadn't heard of many of the Authors, but I really enjoyed the book and I seriously need the full stories of a few of them especially Kasey and JJ, I also think that Grant, JoHn and even Brodie might have there own stories of I certainly hope so.
