Tangles of the Heart

What will Darlene choose?

Darlene Britain couldn’t wait for her boyfriend, Austin Chambers, to come home from all his foolery of saving his mom, Maggie, from the mistakes she made on Millionaire Engagement. Darlene’s passionate to get started on their dreams of saving the environment in Yellowstone Park.

But when Austin comes home considering a radical new job offer in Tucson, Arizona, Darlene’s life gets dumped upside down. To make matters harder, along with the journey, she also meets Cactus Ronnie, a race car driver, who is full of passion and actively romancing her, forcing Darlene to make hard choices: where she’s going to live, what career path to take, and eventually, who she will give her heart to.

"I enjoyed finding out Darlene’s story in Tangles of the Heart. She grows a lot in the book and makes hard choices. I loved finding out who she finally ends up with. Who does she choose? You’ll have to read to find out!" --Catia Shattuck, Avid Bookworm

Anastasia Alexander doesn’t have the answers to life’s love questions. What she does know is that love in the 21st Century is complex. There are no easy answers, and there is a lot of richness and juiciness in exploring all the complexity that love brings.

Her credentials are two failed marriages, equaling twenty-three years of marriage and a willingness to believe that maybe a third one will be her lucky number. Or she might decide to compete with Elizabeth Taylor for who can get married the most times. It is yet to be determined which option she’s going to go for, but until then she pours her passion and sarcasm for relationships into her stories.

It's a very descriptive book. With a woman torn between two loves because one was a chance meeting. Would you take the man who drops everything on a dime to help his mother out of whatever hole she dug herself in? Or the fast paced and spirited man who lives life on the edge in a race car?
I thought the book was well written even with an abrupt ending. But I wish I had read the first and second book of the series instead of coming into the third book. I really hate that to be totally honest. Characters were well written out and had a lot to give in opinions and the way they were all going in life. Would I read it again. Yes after reading the first two books.

Good, but not enough for me

I enjoyed the premise of this book, but was left with too many loose ends. Maybe it is because I have not read the first book in the series and some of my questions would be answered there. Initially I was very bothered by timelines. The timelines of Darlene and Austin’s relationship were confusing to me. It talks of being together for years, but never really explains how that is possible as other times it seems as if they had only been together a few months. Also, this is in a millionaire series, but only minor characters seem to have any money so it doesn’t seem to quite fit. My biggest issue though, and the reason for two stars is that I felt there was no actual end to this book. Maybe that is also something that would be answered in other books, but that isn’t really made clear. With all of the angst between a relationship with Austin or Ronnie, I really expected a little more development of a decision from Darlene. The end felt more like a one liner when I wanted a whole chapter.

This was an interesting story with a lot of issues for Darlene to work through. I found Darlene a bit lost and sheltered in her life. She was young but really had no idea what she wanted in life. She was used to hanging with and planned on more with Austin, her childhood friend. When things changed, she was forced to ground her life. Cactus Ronnie was placed in front of her. He was a fun, carefree, and genuine person, though he was a bit too wishy washy in not helping Darlene work out her future. The ending was a bit rushed, but I was glad to see both make major decisions about their dream lives.
Overall, a good story.

I heard about this story through CBR Services and received a copy through Enticing Journey Book promotions. This is my unsolicited review.

Anastasia Alexander is a new to me author making Tangles of the Heart my first book from her. In this story, Darlene Britain has a big choice to make for her future. She has her longtime boyfriend Austin Chambers, a big time mama's boy who doesn't really put Darlene first when it comes to his plans in my eyes, and Cactus Ronnie the fun race car driver who lives life to the fullest. Yes, it's a love triangle with Darlene trying to make the correct choice, but I felt like she had a couple of issues herself which needed to be fixed before trying to plan a future with any man. I did enjoy this story, but the ending was rushed in my opinion after all the push & pull. However, this is only my opinion so decide for yourselves! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Darlene Britain is living in Idaho when her boyfriend requests that she take a trip to Arizona. While on route she meets Cactus Ronnie, a racecar driver. Darlene is attracted to him, and the chance encounter upends the lives of Darlene, her boyfriend Austin, and Ronnie as well.

A love triangle develops, and eventually Darlene must choose between two individuals who both seek to claim her heart. Coming to a decision won’t be easy, and her anguish forms the foundation of this powerful novel. Though it deals with difficult subject matter, as Darlene feels conflicted, there is also a great deal of excitement and adventure to be found in these pages. The reader will love getting on board for all of the unexpected twists and turns leading to our heroine’s eventual fateful decision.

“Tangles of the Heart" is a very entertaining story. It's a book full of emotion and romance. Darlene Britain's story captivated me from the first moment, and I didn't want to stop reading and because I wanted to find out what would happen next. Something that I really liked about the book is the masterful and exciting way in which Anastasia presents the characters in the book, provoking a deep connection with each character. The characters in this book feel real and vibrant with moving stories. One of the things I enjoyed most about the book is the way it addresses risk-taking in life itself; the stories made me reflect on my own decisions and choices. I completely recommend this book to get caught up in truly fascinating stories.

Young adult book

It doesn't appear that this book series is marketed as Young Adult books, but to me this one read like one. Young woman (they kept saying she was an adult now, and talking about her college plans so I'm thinking she's 18 / just out of high school) butting heads with her mother and having dramatic boy problems. This is a good book if this is the kind of book you like. I saw a couple of typos but nothing too bad. The writing was pretty good and I liked that the main character has a photography hobby. I'd recommend this book for fans of young adult fiction and of young romance.

My guilty pleasure is very romantic readings. I love to read how they unfold and I love romantic statement dialogues, that's the reason I read this book in one sitting. It's a book with a very good plot, it tells how the life of a quiet woman with a pretty ordinary life intersects with that of a race car driver who turns her world upside down. I loved how the book is full of adventures and risks, how everything changes when you get to connect with people who are completely different from you and how this can make you live unique experiences. A very well written book, with well developed characters. Highly recommended.

This is a clean young adult story and it provides the very different environments Darlene lands in when dealing with her"boyfriend" choices. If making a decision in a "love" triangle is the readers main/only expectation then I think this is a 5 star read because Darlene's options are introduced, she's weighs the pros and cons and makes a decision. I would've prefer a bit more in a "millionaire romance" than just a decision of who to date and I think the ending was abrupt without providing the consequences of her choice.

I received a free copy without obligation and am voluntarily reviewing.

I found this to be a very interesting story. Darlene has been with long time boyfriend Austin and been second to his mother. Should she settle for this? Then she meets Cactus Ronnie. She is drawn to him also. She has a choice to make. I enjoyed the way the story was written and developed. It is a cute story and entertaining. You can't help liking all the characters. I recommend the book and look forward to reading others in this series.

Decisions

Interesting read. I enjoyed Darlene's story. Austin is such a mama's boy. He has the ability to become e a rich man. Ronnie is a believer in following your dreams. He lives life. The choice isn't hard. What would you do? Who would you choose?

What's a girl supposed to do??? Too many options, too many decisions, what's the best thing to do.
Yes, it truly is a deliemma in Darlene's young life. What road was she to follow. She would cause heart ache, one way or the other.
See if you would have made the same decision.

attempt at coming of age

I get what the author was aiming for and appreciate that she was trying to portray a young girl figuring out who she is and that love doesn’t always have easy answers or clear choices.

Nice romance.

I love a good romance, but I want a strong plot going with it, even if it’s just about a love triangle.
Although the story is promising, it felt too uneven and the lack of ending didn’t help.
Some readers might like it more than I did.

I liked Darlene's story. She seemed grounded and well rounded in character. I liked that she stuck to her convictions. I thought she had some hard decisions to make. I think she made the best one for herself though I felt bad for some of the parties involved. It was interesting to visit a little with characters from the previous book, though the focus was more on her and Austin and Ronnie. I think others will enjoy reading this book as well.

Merged review:

I enjoyed reading the updated version of this book. I liked the changes that were made. I enjoyed reading it more the second time through than the first time. I thought the characters were believable. The plot was interesting. I didn't agree with everything that happened in the book but I understood the decisions that were made. I am sure others will enjoy reading this book as well.
