I was kidnapped from comic con of all places. By a big blue guy with horns. I thought he was dressed as an alien. Turns out he was an alien. He talks of love and longing for a mate. Sorry buddy, you got the wrong girl.
Loxtin I'm tired of this. Everyone has a mate, Except me. Fate just magically brings human women in other male's arms. With the exception of me of course. So you know what? I'm just going to Earth to take one. I explained to her we were fated to be together. She doesn't believe me.
This book contains power exchange This is a science fiction alien romance. HEA guaranteed. No cliffhangers. No cheating. This is a standalone and can be enjoyed in any order.
Honestly, he goes on and on about the mate thing, but it seems like he just likes the idea of a mate more than her. He abducts her and just expects her to fall in line. He doesn’t believe any of the other guys with human mates didn’t abduct them, even though all the stories and all the people involved back up the claims of non-abduction. Does whatever he likes without thought of consequences.
After she leaves the planet, she’s pregnant with his child (yes, he knows), and he does nothing to try and get her back/win her over/court her. Instead he wants to go back to his previous relationship, but said male is in another relationship that he’s jealous of because the ex (guy) never treated him with the same care, etc. So since he can’t get back with his ex, he pouts more until a friend tells him to go after his true mate. Yep, he had to be told to go after her.
That he was so willing to go back to his ex so fast made me think the true mate stuff was just BS feeling-wise. Sure, he gets to get all these mating powers, but the bond doesn’t have any feeling behind it if he can easily move on after she wasn’t even gone that long. It makes it seem as though this mating bond is only beneficial for the alien males as they gain power from it, but their non-palaxian mate gets zilch.
I won’t even go into how the heroine is a dummy for trying to rescue the guy. Or how the hero punishes her sexually for things (without her prior consent). Or how everything is so very casual with planet security, information, etc.
What most bothered me was the males attitude towards the woman who was his mate. I can see moving on after a lengthier amount of time, or if she was in s relationship with another, or had passed on. But it was like the equivalent of a week?!? Ugh.
I love the humor of this series from the beginning, from the beginning differences in cultural and sexual attitudes to the end! And the hapless “heroine” Amy’s attempt to run away and rescue her mate, good thing he’s such a great warrior or she would be up the proverbial creek without a paddle! Thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable.
