The intent of this book is to teach the reader about everything that has been introduced since React 16. As someone who is in the tech industry, it has been hard to catch up on new features without having to go through existing feature and hope to find a nugget of information about the features.

The author uses some unconventional means including using comics and illustration to support the topics. There's 8 chapters in this book and the first 7 and 100 or so pages of the 250 do this well. What seems to be out of place was the 8th chapter which was somewhere around 100 pages of the book, the author looks at a bunch of "Advanced" React patterns and introduces how they might change with hooks.

There are plenty of examples in this book with source code that helps the user to see how to best use the new features.
