I wanted to love this. I just can't help but find it frustrating. First of all, the affirmations often feel like gaslighting. You just can't make a positive statement and expect it to be true of every reader. You cannot tell absolutely every reader that they have many personal strengths that WILL allow them to achieve their goals. You can't tell every reader that they are loved. It is simply not always the case. believe it or not , not everyone has a lot of strengths and intelligence. Not everyone is loved. Someone telling me statements that are objectively untrue for me makes me feel gaslit and unseen. Is this supposed to be true of everyone and it's just one more failure of mine? Is that how I should feel after reading this? It asked for a list of goals and expects you to track your motivation to pursue them. I hate to say it but some of us with extreme symptoms may not currently have goals, or be able to think of some reasonable goals. How about help me come up with an achievable goal in the first place? Some of the prompts do contain some decent thought provoking questions. Other prompts assume a level of functioning where we already know what actions we can take to manage issues that we reflect on. If I knew that, I probably wouldn't be ordering books to help me lol. If I hadn't already written in it, I'd return this journal.
