This is a great introduction to a novice in chemistry. I was able to study this book on my own without a class. The first 5 chapters are pretty technical and mathy, but once you get past that, it's a great overview of how chemistry is involved in our daily lives. Has spurred me to go on with chemistry.

Summarized basic chemical applications to everyday life in a layperson's terms. Was more interesting than the lectures. ;)
